Re: Laptop won't wake from sleep, mint 20.2, Dell Inspiron Ryzen
Hi, thanks for the tip on how to install 5.14. And you are right, that version didn't solve the problem It's not critical for me, but it's nice to know it's a known problem at least, it means a fix is probably forthcoming!

Re: Laptop won't wake from sleep, mint 20.2, Dell Inspiron Ryzen
Upon searching a bit more, it seems many Ubuntu users solved this by upgrading to Kernel 5.14 or 5.15, but those aren't available in update manager.

Laptop won't wake from sleep, mint 20.2, Dell Inspiron Ryzen
Hi, I am not sure since when the problem is there since I rarely put the laptop in sleep mode, but right now, it will not wake up after closing the lid. I have to restart completely. The laptop is a Dell Inspiron with a Ryzen 5 4500U CPU, so it is running on kernel 5.13 because of that. I also check...

Re: How to update thunderbird to 78?
I'll mark this as solved since that thread, and links from it, gave me my answer(but not a satisfying resolution sadly). From what I gathered, if I want an update through the official repo, it won't happen since only ubuntu 20.10+ is getting TB 78. And I don't want to deal with manual installation. ...

Re: How to update thunderbird to 78?
Thanks! I did a search but the "78" kept getting excluded from the search so I didn't see that thread.

Update: I ran 2 tests on my older laptop.(had to use my older laptop since mint 18.3 kernel is too old for the new laptop and the display doesn't work) 1- I tried Mint 20 live CD and tried to ping plex.local. It didn't work(exact same message as above) 2- Tried Mint 18.3 live CD and tried to ping pl...

Re: Cannot resolve local hostname
plex.local is actually a ubuntu server running the plex app. I can ping it using plex.local from all my other machine(windows or linux, like my raspberry pi) I was also able to ping it from my old laptop, which ran linux mint 19. My problem is thus only with this newly installed mint 20. It refuses ...

Re: Cannot resolve local hostname
Yes, pinging by IP works fine. Regular DNS resolution works too(i.e. internet domain) Only trying to reach local machines by their name doesn't work from the mint laptop. I haven't disabled anything, it's a clean install. I'm very familiar with wireshark on windows, but alot less with linux utils.(c...

Re: Cannot resolve local hostname
Hi,
the plex.local name is indeed valid. Only the newly installed mint laptop can't ping it or resolve it's name. It's the same with any other local computer I have, mint cannot resolve their ip by hostname.

Why does mint want to upgrade to kernel 5.0? How to prevent in apt
Some time ago, kernel 5.0 started being offered as an update, but I,m staying clear of it because I saw reports that it has some regressions for my laptop hardware(dell xps 13 9343) But I'm wondering why Mint wants to upgrade to kernel 5.0 since it's not even a LTS kernel? And also, I have found how...

Re: How to upgrade to Linux Mint 19
Couple of problems during the upgrade. I am really glad for the timeshift tool that is now included in 18.3, I was able to get back to a stable 18.3 OS. :D Problem 1: Even though mintupgrade download download all the packages, there are still some steps that connect to the mint packages repo, and lu...

How to add custom arguments to openvpn using NetworkManager?
To solve a DNS issue while using wifi in hotels or such, I have to add the arguments --script-security 2 --up /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf.sh --down /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf.sh when I start openvpn.(or I can add them to the client ovpn config file too, both work) But i see no way to add th...

Re: broadcom BCM4352 driver won't load after updating kernel
That worked, thanks! I was able to correctly connect the mouse using bluetooth after this, and even my cellphone. Both failed before. I was so fed up with this wireless card that I have ordered an Intel one, but I'm glad bluetooth is now working until it gets here. Only the "jumping around"...
