Re: Linux Mint 19.3 'Tricia' What are your First Impressions?
I just 'upgraded' from Mint 19.2 to 19.3, Cinnamon 2 days ago, using the automatic upgrade option. The upgrade went smooth without any hitch. In the release notes and new features, I read that 19.3 is supposed to have Celluloid for multimedia player, but my system still has Xplayer as the default an...

Re: Input Method not working correctly
I have Mint 19.2 Cinnamon, fully updated. When I switch to 'INDIAN' keyboard, no key works in the default text editor (I believe it is Edx). Keys also do not work in file manager. All keys work properly when I am in Libre office. Anyone having a solution?

No, this did not help. I still have not been able to find out how to get the standard INSCRIPT keyboard working (on Mint 18.2 now). For typing in a n umber of Indian languages, more particularly in Hindi, Inscript is the accepted standard in India. There were earlier many keyboards under various oth...

Re: Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 64 bit File Browser 'Search' problem
I am sorry for a long break. I started afresh and created a new 'test' user once again. This time I copied to it just the .config directory of my user account, since I knew that was causing the problem. On checking 'test' it was confirmed that the test account too had developed the search problem. T...

[SOLVED] Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 64 bit File Browser 'Search' problem
I upgraded my Mint 17 cinnamon 64 bit to 17.3 cinnamon a few days ago. In its file browser/file manager, I am not able to search for any file or folder. As soon as I make any keystroke to type in the search bar, the file-browser closes and the desk top goes blank. All desktop icons disappear. I disc...

I too have been having trouble renaming files - I use Mint 17 LTRelease, Cinnamon, 64 bit. May be because I use ibus too. But thanks to helpful information in this forum, I installed pcmanfm and have found it to be much better in all respects. I have 2 questions: Is there any disadvantage if I switc...

Re: power manager icon does not show up in systray
The problem was apparently being caused by inappropriate driver for display hardware (Geforce 720M on my laptop). As shown by the driver manager, driver in use was the one shown as 'recommended' - it was nvidia-331(version 331.38-Oubuntu 7.1). Also shown in the list was nvidia-331(version 331.38-Oub...

Re: power manager icon does not show up in systray
On further chacking, I find that when I click the mouse over the panel, where the power icon is meant to be (but is not visible), the label 'power settings' shows up. On further clicking, I find that the Pwer Management screen opens up, but under the heading "Battery", it is all blank. Har...
