Re: Linux Mint 19, Cinnamon constantly crashes after upgrade

Mintupgrade worked perfectly for me and many others It would certainly comfort all those not so lucky. ......, mintupgrade does a poor job. So? It is absolutely impossible to test tools like that on every hardware combination. Many users upgraded without any problem. I'm sure this will be fixed soo...

Re: Linux Mint 19, Cinnamon constantly crashes after upgrade

FYI: attempting to ` sudo apt install libgl ` to solve a problem of missing shared file causes all of cinnamon to be removed. Learned by experience; also timeshift is awesome. Not just cinnamon but Mesa and everything that depends on it. There are a lot of broken dependencies causing the issue. For...

Linux Mint 19, Cinnamon constantly crashes after upgrade

Hi, I just upgraded to Linux Mint 19 from Linux Mint 18.3. I thought the upgrade process went fine, the system booted up, but Cinnamon keeps crashing with the error dialogue: "Cinnamon just crashed. You are currently running in Fallback Mode. Do you want to restart Cinnamon?" Clicking "Yes" just pop...

Re: Firefox 33.0 Menu Bar Characters Always Black

It doesn't take place on Windows, Debian or Chakra, I know it for a fact, so it's not a Firefox issue.

Re: Firefox 33.0 Menu Bar Characters Always Black

It's not Firefox, it's a Mint issue, Mint comes with it's own version of Firefox, and I'd be glad if the person responsible for this poor choice would fix the issue ASAP.

Re: Mint 17 refuses to mount any type of Windows hard drive

In my case Win8.1 puts some kind of lock on NTFS partitions if I shut down the system. (Mint is unable to mount them) Usually I start up Windows for something specific and then reboot to Mint, so it doesn't really affect me. Could be the same issue as yours.

Firefox 33.0 Menu Bar Characters Always Black

Hi,

After the last update to Firefox 33.0, the characters on the menu bar remain black, regardless of the theme selected. (Which is really annoying with a dark/black theme...)
It does not occur on Windows or other Linux distros, is it a Mint specific issue?

Re: Major KDE Developer Says Goodbye to Ubuntu

There's nothing surprising in the further segmentation of the Linux world, it's not an accident Debian itself is planning to transition away to FreeBSD kernel to leave this mess behind. It might sound weird here, but this mentality that if you don't like something you just fork another for yourself ...

Re: [SOLVED] Linux Mint 16 micro small issue ... touchpad

Thanks for the help. I guess there was an update in the meantime, because when I checked the options the next day, it looked exactly like the posted screenshot with the proper options, so I could simply select the tap feature. Thanks again. (By the way, I had to do a clean LM16 install on my desktop...

Re: where is stick formatting tool option in right click men

You cannot format it because it's not a normal mass storage device, it comes with its own software. You should be happy it works at all under Linux. And for the future, don't by crapware from Kingston, there are far better products out there.

Re: LM16 - Cinnamon 2.0 - fglrx 2.13.101 - AMD A8-3850 (HD65

I noticed I have a few missing icons in the menu as well. The "Welcome Screen" in "Preferences" and "Browse C: Drive" in "Wine" have no icons either, as well as some of the items in the "Recent Files" submenu.

LM16 - Cinnamon 2.0 - fglrx 2.13.101 - AMD A8-3850 (HD6550D)

Hi! This time the fglrx driver at least works, my hardware is not unsupported, there are no major artifacts, and finally I have some 3D performance. There's one small bug tho, the Mint logo is missing in front of the Menu string on the panel. Is there a workaround for that? Thanks. Edit: Same issue ...

Re: Horrible distortion on Skype sounds only

There's some solution given here: http://www.webupd8.org/2013/10/get-sound-working-in-skype-with-ubuntu.html. Maybe that fixes your problem(s). Acctually when I tried this solution it got worse... for me worked also this: $ nano /etc/pulse/default.pa and add "tsched=0" at the end of line, so it rea...

Re: Grub2 information & Links.

I pulled off other HDDs during install to avoid having grub be set up for dualboot, no luck, updates updated grub and it found my Windows partitions. I want to manually boot into Windows from the BIOS if I need it (doesn't happen often) and I don't want grub to wait for selecting the OS. I don't min...

Re: Upgrade from Mint15(64) to Mint16(64), now error at GRUB

I have the same problem, I upgraded on my laptop using apt and it worked fine. So I tried it on my desktop too, and now I get the error message "There was an error loading the theme SpaceRace" instead of the login screen. During upgrade grub complained the UUID is not matching (I transfered the syst...

It's the (Logitech) webcam (or it's driver), when I don't turn on my video (only the using the built-in mic for voice input) it's working fine.

I'm using an AuzenTech X-Fi and I have the same issue. The source of the problem is Pulse itself.

Re: skype sound quality is awful

I guess it's a Pulse problem. I'd greatly appreciate if Linux settled with an audio subsystem finally, and made that work. OSS, ALSA, Pulse, are they going to "invent" another one with newer issues instead of fixing the old one again?
