Re: "Open as root" option missing ??
@antikythera: same for me in Cinnamon (before I installed Mate)
@all41: I already had Pluma installed. Now I uninstalled xed, which made Pluma the only text editor. No difference. Context item unfortunately still not there.

Re: "Open as root" option missing ??
Even the instructions "Edit or Open Ubuntu Files and Folders as root Administrative" in this link https://www.how2shout.com/linux/open-ub ... root-user/ don't work in that the menu option "edit as administrator" is not created ?

Re: "Open as root" option missing ??
Don't do what ?
Is there or is there not supposed to be an option to open files as root/admin in LMDE4, as there was in the past ?

[SOLVED ]"Open as root" option missing in LMDE4 + Mate ??
Just installed LMDE4 + Mate. The file system appears to lack the option to "open as root" or "open as admin" in the right-click menu. It was there in LMDE1+2 (Mate) and 3 (Cinnamon). It's not just not active, but the option is missing alltogether. Folder Properties show the owner...

Re: MATE instead of Cinnamon in LMDE4
Thank you, yes it did, it just needed some fiddling. I think this had to do with my login-settings, but my .dmrc file was not executable and I was unable to change it. So I had to - very unelegantly - create it manually, make it executable, then purge Cinnamon, and then restart. Which did the trick....

[Solved] MATE instead of Cinnamon in LMDE4
Clean install of LMDE4. Unable to boot into Mate. I found another post that explains that in order to boot into Mate as the default desktop environment, one has to do the following: 1) To install Mate: sudo apt install mate-desktop-environment -y 2) To purge Cinnamon: sudo apt autoremove --purge cin...

Re: [Solved - kind of] Cinnamon Drawer ?
Something must have been wrong with my first install of cinnamon (though I have no idea why), but drag & drop worked on other installations. Lack of a general drawer still a problem, but at least the sidebar is workable.

Run launchers as admin ?
LMDE2 MATE desktop launchers had a right-click option "open as administrator" that appears to not exist in LMDE3 Cinnamon ? Would anybody know how to run a launcher as admin ? I can't just add a "sudo" as I don't get prompted for a password. Ex.: drop cache commands sync; echo 1 ...

Thank you. I came back to post the same. I wish I had found your message earlier. It would have saved me quite a bit of time. Installation was no problem. Did you manage to add the key though ? [Solved] Waterfox
In LMDE2 I used these instructions: https://bintray.com/package/readme/hawkeye116477/waterfox-deb/waterfox The installation worked o.k. but not the updates, which is also the question I have: I never received any update notifications through the update manager - which I thought was supposed to be ac...

Re: Cinnamon Drawer ?
Thanks so much, you have the patience of a saint. - Make your vertical panel - o.k. - add a panel launcher applet to it - o.k. - drag your launchers to the new panel launcher applet - no dragging possible. - You may need to right click on the panel launcher applets to enable dragging in their settin...
