Re: Linux Mint + KXStudio Audio Production setup

is http://kxstudio.linuxaudio.org/Repositories DEAD . anyone know if it's just temporary out of service of if they are gone forever? I've been wondering this too. It's been down for days. Yesterday the website itself was down for me, I just got the default Apache success page. Today I get the site ...

Re: LightDM or MDM?

xenopeek I take your points and as we are debating a free O/S I try to accept gracefully that which is offered with an open heart and in good faith. That said, as a user, I have gone from 18.1 which did stuff I liked and I have come to value it, to 18.2 which is less (at least in respect to the DM) ...

Re: LightDM or MDM?

More features are coming in Linux Mint 18.3: http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=3322 The login screen is more configurable than before. Options were added for automatic login as well as the ability to hide the user list and enter user names manually (this is useful for LDAP users). Panel indicators can b...

LightDM or MDM?

Hi, I am quite surprised at the lack of features and configurability of LightDM, at least in the GUI. I like to set my DM to not show other users and to not have to enter an 'away message' when locking the screen. There seems to be no useful configuration in the 'Login Window' settings anymore. Havi...

Re: Tascam US-122L Audio Interface

A Google search for 'Tascam US-122L linux' turns up plenty of hits. Many of them are rather old. These hits looked the most likely to contain useful information to me: https://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Matrix:Module-usb-us122l http://wiki.briata.org/doku.php https://www.linuxmusicians.com...

Tascam US-122L Audio Interface

Hi, I'm trying to get an old Tascam sound card working with LM18 Cinnamon, but so far have got no where. The only place I can find any mention of it is in QjackCtl under 'Setup > Interface'. But it wont start jackd with this device selected, giving this list of errors... 20:07:44.757 Statistics rese...

Re: Packard Bell P.C. becomes an Acer overnight!

I'm going to venture a guess and say that your CMOS battery has died and during a power down the motherboard settings returned to defaults (likely an Acer motherboard), and lost the Packard Bell factory settings. Maybe. Or something else altogether. Just checked the battery and after being removed ...

Re: Packard Bell P.C. becomes an Acer overnight!

Did you by happenstance, get and install the intel-microcode update in the Driver Manager ? No I haven't. Someone mentioned 'micro code' the other day in relation to their Dell. I still don't know what it is, I must look that up! But that does make me wonder if there is another way other than the o...

I'm not sure as I haven't used windows for many years, but given what they're up to with version 10 I wouldn't be surprised!

If it's any consolation, you're the first person I've known to have this, so we'll name it after you... "Greenpete Computer Syndrome", or GCS for short. (This isn't a dual-boot machine by any chance, is it?) Thanks... I think! :? Yes, it dual boots different versions of Linuxmint and an Ubunt...

Re: Packard Bell P.C. becomes an Acer overnight!

If I recall correct, Packard Bell is owned by Acer. So it could be the board and bios came from Acer and had the PackBell splash screen added but for some reason it went away? I've never heard of a BIOS just changing something like this before but if you truly didn't make revisions to BIOS.... BTW,...

Packard Bell P.C. becomes an Acer overnight!

Hi All, I am wondering if anyone can shed any light on an odd thing that has happened to me... Usually when I boot up my Packard Bell iMedia P.C. running LM18 the first screen I get is the the Packard logo in the BIOS splash screen. Yesterday when I booted the same machine up having made no changes ...

Re: DVDStyler in LM18 [Solved]

I tried the suggestion above and DVDStyler 3.0 still fails with the message Error Creating Menu, etc...(installed from the Software Manager again, still fails). I used a .dvds file that had previously worked fine. As I recall I had this problem on a previous version. Any other ideas? Linux Mint 17....

Re: DVDStyler in LM18 [Solved]

I didn't do the removes mentioned by administrollaattori. I just added the PPA: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntuhandbook1/+archive/ubuntu/dvdstyler Linux Mint 18 is based on Ubuntu 16.04, which is named Xenial. This is listed in the PPA filter. I add and enable/disable via Synaptic Package Manager. DV...

Re: DVDStyler in LM18

It isn't in the Ubuntu 16.04 repos yet so hence it isn't available for Ubuntu based distros like Mint. Beginners should avoid compiling if possible ... it's a good way to mess things up if you don't know what you're doing. The last thing I compiled was a wireless backport and I wouldn't compile for...

DVDStyler in LM18 [Solved]

Hi, I see that DVDStyler is no longer in the repo's and try as I might (several days of searching compiling and failing) I cannot get it to install on my machine. Nor can I see any LM18 related posts on the issue. If I have missed them please point there, else can anyone help me compile/install DVDS...

Re: Problems compiling LMMS 1.0.0

As it was more than tricky to compile from source and others may like an easier route to installing the latest version of LMMS before it hits the repo's I decided to make some scripts to automate the process. They are written for 64bit systems and have been tested on LinuxMint16 if anyone wants a co...
