Re: LMDE release date?

He can do whatever he wants, of course. Serious lack of updates and interest from the devs made me reconsider this whole LMDE thing. Have fun with it.

Not if Clem doesn't care. He seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth... forum, blogs, etc.

Re: Why isn't there a Linux Mint Debian based on Debian Stab

I'm just a little bit concerned primarily about any possible security holes that may open up in the experimental or testing builds of debian used for linux mint IMHO the testing repository is stable enough for everyday use, unless you're running a server and want to be better safe than sorry. In De...

Re: LMDE disapointment.

As I said, Cinnamon 2 on a pure Debian system doesn't seem to work too well, probably I'm missing something but I don't know what. Others I've talked to had the same problem. I'll just wait until it becomes available in the official repo, so dependencies and other needed packages hopefully won't be ...

Re: LMDE disapointment.

I know what you mean--when one has a question, is it 'just' LMDE, or is it for Mint as a whole? Anyway that just reinforces my belief that Clem should concentrate his efforts. Better to have LMDE solid or just drop it or drop the Ubuntu branch and concentrate on LMDE. Myself, I'm thinking I'm ready...

+1 for this ;)

And another +1.

Since LMDE uses "update packs" (e.g. not a rolling release model) I don't really see why keep using Ubuntu as a base. Also, with Debian no reinstall is needed (unlike Ubuntu).

Re: Cinnamon 2.0 on debian 7

I had the same problem when I tried to install it on Debian (where Gnome was previously installed). The control panel icons also didn't seem to work correctly.
Someone suggested it was due to gnome dependencies leftovers (gnome-session, etc)... Sorry can't be of more help.

Re: Compiling latest WINE: how do I resolve OpenGL dependenc

This should manage your dependencies automatically: sudo apt-get build-dep wine

You can also install the latest precompiled wine debs from http://wine.psy-q.ch

Thanks for your reply, Riko. I haven't used incoming repos before, but from what I gather it's a bit like running Sid (debian unstable): scary but only in theory :)

Re: LMDE release date?

I find LMDE a rock-solid distro. I ventured away a few times to try something new (including SolydX) on a 2nd partition but still run as my main OS (however slightly tweaked to be hybrid of stock LMDE-UP7 and Debian testing/unstable/experimental. probably nothing for the chicken-hearted :) I guess ...

Re: LMDE release date?

That's interesting, but SolydXK has nothing to offer to me. I chose Linux Mint mainly because of Cinnamon (after ditching Gnome 3 in disgust and trying all of the other desktop environments and window managers), and because LMDE follows, at least in theory, the rolling release model. Unfortunately, ...

That link is bad. All I get is "connection refused". :( It works fine here. Anyway I uploaded it to pastebin just to be sure: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=VF9WDnra How about a gpg signature, it could be provided quite easily. Secure apt can validate downloaded packages: https://wiki.debi...

Is there a release schedule? I'd like to have an approximate date so that I can decide whether to wait for LMDE or install the Ubuntu-based Mint for the time being.
