Zur Zeit nutze ich Tor wenn ich die IP verschleiern will, ein VPN ist aber in einigen Punkten bequemer.

Same here, I'm running Mint 17.3 with Xfce. I always thought that there is no way to fix it because it is associated to the X-Window system. So, it's not a bug, it's a feature

Try the following:

under "Settings > Keyboard" create a keyboard-shortcut to the command If the laptop does not wakeup, press the shortcut buttons.
