Is XFCE dead?

I'm using Mint 17.3 with XFCE and I like it very much, only some minor glitches but it is OK and stable. But when I look at the change log: Version 4.10 was released on April 28, 2012 and version 4.12 came out on Feb. 28, 2015. I don't see any significant improvements recently. Is this project in a ...

17.3 XFCE Abmelden

Installation. Ich habe nach ...

Re: Screen closing while watching a stream

Same here, I'm running Mint 17.3 with Xfce. I always thought that there is no way to fix it because it is associated to the X-Window system. So, it's not a bug, it's a feature :D

Re: Mint 17.3 "XCFE" and coming Out of Suspend??

Try the following:

under "Settings > Keyboard" create a keyboard-shortcut to the command

Code: Select all

xrandr --auto
If the laptop does not wakeup, press the shortcut buttons.

Hope that helps!

The 'is my Mint safe?' thread (after Feb 20th hacks)

Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate this ... but I wish this kinda statement comes from an "official" mint representative. I think you wrote this post from the best of your knowledge, but do you take the responsibility for that? I wish the mint representatives also comment on what is c...

Re: Does Mint getting hacked change security thoughts?

If you did not download your ISO image on last Saturday (February 20th) and installed your system with it, you are not affected by the hijack. Don't forget, they hacked the forum, our e-mail addresses are already for sale on the dark net. So be prepared for some more spam now an then :? This sucks...

Hallo,

Sorry, I didn't watch your linked videos, but I'm familiar with RMS's ideas and have listened to some of his speeches. How can you blame people for not using Free Software when the alternatives is either incomplete or unusable for the regular Joe's, in which most of the time is the 80% of the user b...

Thanks for your reply. Meanwhile I did some "research" too and came to the same conclusion: To install the latest version is the right approach. I also learned that there might be some incompatibilities between version 1.9.x and 2.5.x so moving back to the old version from the repos is not...

This is a matter of personal taste. You simply don't need Kleopatra for this simple task.

Since we all are "Linux geeks", we should prefer the terminal. :D
