Future prediction (sorry haha)

Either way, I have no idea what you guys are up too....because I've been out of the loop. Either way, my prediction is that gnome 3 will be predominately accepted very soon....people will grow weary of "the old GUI" and start enjoying new things....so more or less, you guys will start developing ver...

Re: Weird little problem mounting my second drive

Ok, so I solved the problem by finding this bug report https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/442130 Instead of fstab line saying: UUID=53C9B64178F765A7 /media/53C9B64178F765A7 ntfs-3g user, defaults 0 0 You should change it to say: /dev/disk/by-uuid/53C9B64178F765A7 /media/53C9B64178F76...

Re: Weird little problem mounting my second drive

Also, in my mtab there is currently this:

Code: Select all

/dev/sda1 /media/53C9B64178F765A7 fuseblk rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,allow_other,blksize=4096 0 0
Whether this means anything I'm not sure....

[SOLVED] Weird little problem mounting my second drive

So here's a screen shot to explain what I mean. The last line in my fstab is the line I made to mount my second hard drive (everything works just fine) and the drive mounts in the correct location. The problem is the black arrow pointing to the redundant entry for the same drive. The red arrow point...

Re: I'm doing a persuasive speech for my class and need help

I'm sorry to call it "linux vs windows" but in order to be a "persuasive" speech I need to pose some kind of argument. It would only be an "informative" speech if I talked about how great linux is, without supposing an opinion on which one is better for the home user. Maybe there is a better way to ...

I'm doing a persuasive speech for my class and need help

So my persuasive speech is "linux vs. windows" for home users. The speech should be great and arguing for linux is all too easy, especially with distros like Mint to put a stop to the "not user friendly" stigma. What do I need help with then? Well, after my speech I'll be handing out 20 linux mint l...

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

Thanks, I appreciate that. If anyone can suggest an icon theme that would match this well I'd be quite grateful. I can't seem to find anything that is "just right" lol.

I "edited" the bisigi theme eco wallpaper, and made my conky to match. How's it look?

So I "edited" this wallpaper

All I really did was take the wallpaper from here: http://www.bisigi-project.org/?p=839&lang=en and modified it with the stock mint logo...and some text. I know it's pretty amateur...seeing as how I didn't make it myself, and the mods I did to it took maybe half an hour of "clicking around" in gimp....

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

New green theme, since it's summer time thought I'd switch back from my brown themes. Using the new Bisigi eco wallpaper, with bambozen decorations, and gnome-wise icon theme. Conky made by me. http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/4898/screenshotrg.th.png http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/7183/screen...

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

My new Minty desktop, using awn for my "bottom panel" with a mixed theme consisting of Radiance, Balazan, and Ubuntu-Mono-Dark icon set. I made the conky myself, with colors to match the wallpaper. http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/9763/screenshotmx.th.png http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/6978/sc...

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

Back on mint, nothing too special just a wallpaper I made myself yesterday with gimp I wanted to show off! Elementary theme, gnome wise icons and my conky. Simple and light is generally what I go for, it has to be easy on the eyes and hopefully relaxing. I also made my preferences and system menu a ...

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

Well, still using Fedora but I slightly "Mintified" the overall color scheme. Gotta love mint's awesome choice in colors! Anyways, this is Fedora 12 with fluxbox, lxpanel, and my custom conky! Still not done with it all, I'll post an update when everything is in place. Let me know what you think :) ...

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

Been using Fedora recently, though I love Mint and the team. Always coming back to this thread too, heh.

Here's my most recent desktop. The conky still needs a lot of work.
