Re: Weird graphics issue

Did you reboot after making changes to the applet? I didn't make any changes to the applet, I only used the Driver Manager to start using the nouveau driver instead of the NVIDIA driver and then I rebooted. But System Info says my graphics card is Intel but I have an NVIDIA applet in my system tray...

Re: Weird graphics issue

If it happens when returning from suspend then, yes, it is probably the same problem. That's why I wanted to know when it was happening. I wanted to make sure it was not a different problem that we should investigate. Yes, it both happens when returning from suspend, and I just experienced it right...

Re: Weird graphics issue

Even when using the latest kernel or NVIDIA drivers the issues I described still occur. But I just started using the open source nouveau display driver and that actually seemed to have solved the problem.

Re: Weird graphics issue

This is another issue which only happens when returning from suspend? Yes, but something tells me it's the same problem It is possible newer drivers, either Nvidia or Intel from the kernel, may help with these issues. https://i.ibb.co/kgGTGzw/Screenshot-from-2021-09-27-07-31-08.png I don't know why...

Re: Weird graphics issue

Another strange issue, which does show up on a screenshot:

Image

As you can see the title bar is larger than the browser window. Resizing the window "solves" the problem and everything returns to normal.

Connecting USB storage while file manager is running

This occurs whenever I connect and try to open USB storage (in this case my phone) while the file manager (Nemo 5.0.3) is running: https://i.ibb.co/WgPgGNx/Screenshot-from-2021-09-16-16-23-29.png Closing and re-opening the file manager (or connecting the USB storage before opening the file manager) ...

Update manager often installs kernel updates. Why doesn't this install the latest kernel?

Re: Weird graphics issue

Thanks. I thought it may have something to do with the graphics drivers. A number of people with 8th-gen Intel processors have found a newer kernel than the 5.4 is a better match for their hardware. The 5.11 kernel is available in Update Manager if you would like to give it a try. Let us know if you...

Weird graphics issue

This often happens after opening my laptop cover (or returning from suspend): https://i.ibb.co/YZZJ7pN/20210831-100030.jpg As soon as I try to use that window everything returns to normal. I took this picture using my phone, when I take a screenshot everything looks normal. inxi -Fxxxrz System: Kern...

Re: Slow Firefox Web Page Resolution

Did you happen to maybe install Firefox for the first time in the last week or so? Turn off their DOH crap. It may be that your ISP's DNS is resolving faster that crapfares that is setup by defauilt in Firefox. I also had an issue with Firefox being slow on Linux Mint 20, nothing wrong with my inte...

Re: [SOLVED] ACPI errors and graphics card drivers issues

If I do that, my system doesn't boot at all anymore. It shows a black screen with a cursor just after the Mint logo appears. I had to re-enable "Secure Boot" (which I disabled to get the NVIDIA driver to work) to get my system to boot, remove the "xorg.conf" file and disable Secu...

Re: ACPI BIOS Error during boot

What other options are available for that 'Advanced Graphics - DVMT Pre-Allocated' setting? A 64M allocation usually corresponds to a 'hybrid' arrangement in which both onboard and separate GPU are involved, but I have to admit that I'm very uncertain about this Asus setup. The only other option av...

I used the "rimg" tag, the image doesn't show inline but if I click on the "Image" link it does show for me.

ACPI BIOS Error during boot

I just installed Linux Mint on my new laptop, ASUS VivoBook X571GD-BQ326T (specs: https://www.asus.com/Laptops/ASUS-Laptop-X571GD/specifications/ ).
