Re: SOLVED How to create "shortcuts" to an Appimage ?

None of these solutions work if there is no option to 'add to menu' when you set up the desktop icon. Is there a way of putting in a menu item if this is not the case?

Re: SOLVED: Update Manager disappears from panel

Many thanks for the solution. This had been driving me mad, and I had been too scared to use 'Restore ALL settings to default' as I feared it might change things other than the panel! :)

It's great to have everything back to normal.

Re: Transfer files between Linux and Kindle...it's easy!!

I found the problem was that Linux Mint 17.2 couldn't recognise my Kindle Fire HD device, but as soon as I replaced the USB cable with another generic one (might have been my original white Kindle Paperwhite one) it worked fine. The black short lead supplied with the Kindle Fire is obviously altered...

Wireless connection for Epson XP-245 Printer scanner

After some difficulty, I have successfully downloaded the various drivers to get this printer working via the USB cable, along with the Linux software for the epson print utility and the scanner section, But try what I might, I cannot get my printer to be accepted by the Wifi network. I have tried t...

How to change 32 bit installation to 64 bit one

My desktop is a 64-bit computer at least eight years old. It came with a Windows Vista installation that was so terrible I was driven to reinstall my old Windows XP 32-bit OS. (which then gave me a usable computer.) I installed Linux Mint 17.2 Cinammon eight months ago (as a complete fresh install n...

Re: Has anyone gotten VideoPad to work in Wine?

CORRECTION... Now I have had the opportunity to get some real experience with Openshot, I realise it is far superior to Videopad and is in fact much easier to use and more flexible. My advice on Openshot is to 1. Watch all the videos about it on Youtube as these reveal things no immediately evident ...

Will Linux Mint install when Windows XP won't?

I have a major problem with my desktop whereby installing Windows XP repeatedly aborts with a blue screen... This always occurs when I reach the stage when it says: '35 minutes to go', having formatted the partition, rebooted, and started installation. Is this purely a Windows problem or would Linux...

Re: Cannot get my Wireless driver accepted in Linux Mint

Doh! I finally got Linux Mint 15 downloaded (took five hours on this slow connection) and have installed it having de-installed the Gnome 9 version. This time it installed without any problems at all via the 'Mount Virtual CD' command etc. First thing it did was recognise the wireless adaptor!! and ...

Re: Cannot get my Wireless driver accepted in Linux Mint

I have got the correct driver "netathr.inf" accepted and the textbox lists it as 'Hardware present yes". However, the network icon bottom right of screen continues to indicate 'No network connection' and rebooting does not resulut in anything different. I have tried typing in various ...

Cannot get my Wireless driver accepted in Linux Mint

I am a complete Newbie who has just installed Linux Mint 9 on my HP Mini Windows 7 netbook, with the choice of operating system on log on. But once Linux is loaded the wireless adapter will not work and I cannot get my Windows driver file accepted. My Wireless adaptor is an Atheros AR9485 802 11b/g/...
