Re: xcalib error: Unsupported Ramp Size

Found the answer elsewhere, so I thought I'd put it here for Mint 19 users. Create a file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.con , and paste in this text Section "Device" Identifier "Intel Graphics" Driver "intel" EndSection in a terminal enter sudo xed /usr/share/doc/xserver-xorg-video-intel/xorg.conf a...

Re: Start Tomboy Notes minimied in tray (LM19.2)

I wanted to put this in community.linuxmint.com, but I couldn't figure out how to create a new tutorial. Where is the best place to put posts like this -- community or forums>tutorials? If community, how does one create a new tutorial?

Thanks

Start Tomboy Notes minimied in tray (LM19.2)

Install 'wmctrl' if not already installed: sudo apt-get install wmctrl Open System Settings > Startup Applications On the bottom of the window, click on the "+" button, then select "Custom command". The Add Startup Program window appears; enter: Name: (This is just a label for the startup list. I u...

Re: LM 19.2 select USB headphones always

Thanks to all for your replies. I have SkypeForLinux and VLC players, both of which can assign the output device independent of the sound panel, so I often have to open all of them, or at least VLC to set/reset the output device. Just seems to be the way it is, so I'll put up with it. Input device i...

Re: how to run lm18.3 version of dconf editor in lm 19.2

thanks, Karl. The best way to run 18.3's version of anything is to boot in 18.3, which I can do because I have different releases in different partitions. About the only thing I like better about LM19.2 is that it boots faster. All the other changes are annoying but I've been gritting my teeth and p...

Any other ideas?
I am not sure what your remaining problem is, you said you could turn it off now and I'm not sure what the rest of your post is about?
I could before, but now i can't.

BTW running timeshift to last night's save doesn't help

Re: lm19.2 kill x-system hotkey

NOW the kill X Session function is totally messed up. I was doing some experimentation with a combination of Enabling and disabline CtrlAltBksp in System Starup setxkbmap -option terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp sudo systemctl restart display-manager and now the Ctrl Alt Bksp setting has completely disappea...

SOLVED xcalib error: Unsupported Ramp Size

I had a script in LM 18.3 that worked fine, but doesn't work in LM 19.2

Code: Select all

xcalib -d :0 -s 0 -v /usr/share/color/icc/colord/Gamma5500K.icc
xcalib -co 90 -a
Both of these command come back with: Error - unsupported ramp size 0

What do I have to do to prevent this error?

-Thanks,

Re: lm19.2 kill x-system hotkey

Blind. I just didn't notice the entry in the startup apps setting. Perhaps it was named something else, previously. Thank you, I can turn it off now. however, your suggestion regarding setxkbmap -option . However, running setxkbmap -rules evdev doesn't restart it. The backspace key doesn't seem to h...

lm19.2 kill x-system hotkey

In LM 18.3 I could load the kill x-system as an applet, and run it via Ctrl-Alt-Bksp. Thus I could temporarily shut down the option if needed. In LM19.2 I have been mistakenly hitting Ctrl-Alt-Bksp, causing me to lose some work and having to reload everything. So I went to applets, thinking I had in...

Re: LM 19.2 xampp no longer starts at boot

Found the trouble. The instructions at the link above put all user input (except one) in \[code\] boxes. But the key instruction is buried in a screenshot, which I didn't read carefully. After creating the xampp.service script in /etc/systemd/system per the instructions above, then enter s...

SOLVED LM 19.2 Cinn launch sound settings window from command line

Ideally I would like to assign a couple of hotkeys to select the audio output device. I often switch between standard audio output and my USB headphones. I need the headphones sometimes for privacy on Skype, or late in the evening so playing movies doesn't bother others. Right now I'm always clickin...

Flemur, I wish my font-manager window looked like that, but it doesn't.

I'm using new-minty theme. Does that make a difference? BTW, what theme are you using?

Re: can't close font manager

Does alt+F4 do the job? What's the name the font manager has in the menu? I don't think I can reproduce this, but I'm unsure. Is it Font Selection or Fonts? - Name="Font Manager" - I installed it by sudo apt-get install font-manager. - alt-F4 works. - which font-manager yields "/usr/bin/font-manage...

SOLVED LM 19.2 select USB headphones always

I have a pair of USB headphone which show up in Sounds > Output as "CM108 Audio Controller". I use the headphones for private skype conversations, or when watching videos late in the evening so as not to disturb others. In LM18.x whatever setting was made, it remained the same through reboot. After ...

SOLVED can't close font manager

just upgraded to LM 19.2

Font manager has no maximize-minimize-close buttons on the title bar. How do I close the application besides right-clicking the title bar?

Is this a bug or a feature of LM 19.2?
