Re: Mint and I are officially parting ways

What does living in a certain country have to do with it? An absolute pointless post, but good luck with your new operating system. Hope it works well for you. :) I have to admit I like the idea of Linux Mint being from Europe xD Same here, it's always great to see projects of any form doing very w...

Re: Progress...

I'm a big fan of your work Kendall, I'm looking forward to try this but also Peppermint as well on Monday. LXDE is doing very well and going in the right direction in creating the speed we need and you seem to be taking it further in your work.

Thanks for your great work, keep it up. :)

Re: Which Desktop Version Do You Prefer? Vote Here

I used to be a fan of KDE 3.5, but for me personally, to many problems came about when it came to KDE 4 so now I use Gnome and I'm happy with it. A lot of people say things like it's a bit simplistic and to be honest I think that is what works well for it. Sometimes when you try to implement and mak...

Re: Will you upgrade- or stay?

I'll be upgrading to Linux Mint 9, I'll be sticking with that release if it works as well as Linux Mint 8 does. Upgrading from release to release, for me personally, will not be a option in the future.

Re: Songbird By Default

That is a problem in the older versions of Songbird. In the new one which I have installed the whole issue around Last.fm has been revised so you do not get that issue any more.

Songbird by default is good providing you can keep up with the latest versions.

Re: Just tried Mint KDE CE...

Managed to fix it, It was a resolution problem. There seems to be a problem with it's refreshing rate though which it's not doing on my computer so it's really sluggish on just navigating around the desktop. It's kind of blurry as well in the browser Firefox which I'm sure would be resolved when Mic...

Re: Just tried Mint KDE CE...

I've tried to use the latest KDE 4 distributions but on every single one I'm getting on my monitor  Out Of Reach  and it's extremely annoying.  Unfortunately, it's the same with Linux Mint 8 KDE (RC1) CE which is a shame because I wanted to try this. KDE 3.5 distributions work perfectly but with KDE...

Re: I Love Helena

Yeah, it's a brilliant release for sure. I have tried many live CD's of other distributions and nothing comes close to Linux Mint in terms of usability, ease of use, stability and performance with older computers. (Linux Mint 8 Gnome) And with the latest innovation from the Mint team of the community...

Re: Linux Mint 8 KDE RC1 Bug topic

I tried this and the live CD was unresponsive and halted me quite a bit in testing this properly. I also had an unusual error on my monitor in the middle saying "out of reach". Mind you, it's quite an old PC so I'm not that surprised by what has happened. Although, the Main Mint works much better fo...

Re: Downgrade Option

You can use all the applications you like to backup and provide as much documentation as well to make it easier. And I'm sure that will work with reasonable results. You can also reinstall the operating system as many times as possible while maintaining your data through the use of those application...

Re: Funds for Mint

If you cannot donate for any reason though. The best thing about the "freedom" of Linux Mint is that you can choose to support in other ways by introducing Linux Mint to a family member or friends. Also by giving Linux Mint a space on most of your websites or blog's like I do. Which sure, is not a a...

Re: Downgrade Option

Well it's not meant to be the only selling point it's meant to ideally improve the experience by limiting issues that new users would face. That is the idea and one that like I say I think applies in any case.

And if OpenSuse are doing it with Yast then it cannot be a bad idea can it?

Re: Downgrade Option

I actually think it would be a good thing to have to be honest. I was never aware of OpenSuse having that but thanks for pointing it out. :) With Windows they do not have this feature but they do have system restore (which when I had Windows never worked lol) which as you know is different from what...

Not sure why but every time I boot up despite changing the volume levels to 50% - 51% it boots up every time and is muted.

Any solution to this?

Cheers. :)

Sounds interesting, if done right I think this could work really well and I hope you get the support you need in making it possible. I would of helped but unfortunately I'm not that great with the skills required. :)

Downgrade Option

I've always seen that there is risks in upgrading Linux Mint and these risks are applied on any Linux distribution that you will come to find. But what if there was something that allowed us to revert back to our previous installation? In my opinion in order for any Linux distribution to go forward ...

Re: Keep Gimp in Mint 9!

I think there is a responsible solution here that would work for both set of users (those who want it in and those who do not) if it's true that it was going to be removed. Why not just use Mint Install and have it show a window on start-up recommending other applications such as Gimp if those who w...
