Re: Problem in using tata photon (EC1260) + in mint 13

Hello AlokOnMint, Have you got your Tata Docomo Photon+ (Huawei EC1260) device working on Linux Mint 13 Maya? If, no, had you tried by giving "internet" as both your username & password in Network Manager -> Edit Connections -> Mobile Broadband? Well, I just did, and it started working (connecting)....

Re: Linux Mint 7 XFCE released!

Great! Was in fact waiting for this day... looking forward to installing it on the PC (Athlon 1.6GHz & 256MB RAM) at my family home to dual boot with Ms Win. (my family can't yet live without her). I use only... ahem... I also actually dual boot or maybe quadruple boot - a FreeDOS & three GNU/Linux ...

Re: How to prevent a program from taking Thunar's place?

I've also noticed this happening in my friend's system with Ubuntu. For him, after installing Easytag, when he tries to open the file manager from the menu, Easytag opens up. Don't exactly know... but I am inclined to think that it is a bug. But, try entering 'thunar' and 'easytag' in the Terminal t...

Can't exactly figure out how this happened... might be a bug. :?

But now you can restore or add a fresh panel from Menu> Settings> Panel Manager. :)

Re: MintXFCE is great!

Sure, it is! I second DapperMe17, FedoraRefugee & Zwopper in the title of the thread. I'll definitely post the teeny weeny problems that I have had / am facing with this distro under some other topics / threads, but still I can't, but admit that this is THE best XFCE based distro that I've tried. Re: Speed optimizations?

Your system is just fine for running XFCE (Mint 5) except for that harddisk. BTW, did you say 2GB or 20GB? My system is a PIII 533MHz & 192MB RAM m/c with a 4GB partition for Mint 5 XFCE. I've have a 40GB HDD which works perfect with my system. The default install of Mint 5 XFCE takes around 2.2GB s...

Re: repair keyboard to aumix links

Try turning on 'Audio settings management' and 'Hotkeys management' in Menu> System> Services.

The keyboard shortcuts are located in the second tab of Menu> Settings> Keyboard Settings.

Re: Change Start Menu Button/Icon

Try changing the Theme back to the original one, which is Elyssa, and the Icon Theme to Mint-Green, in Menu> Settings> User Interface Settings. If that doesn't work, right click on the menu button and select properties. Under Button, give the title you want. And under Icons, give this path, /usr/sha...

Re: Faster boot

The three items which you mentioned are key items to get your desktop loaded faster. To edit the daemons / process that start at boot time, open Menu> System> Services. Unlock the window with your user password. If you don't use, 1. Printing devices, turn off CUPS. (this one usually takes a lot of t...

Re: Linux Mint 5 Elyssa XFCE CE RC1 (BETA 025) is out!

Hi all,

I have been using GNU/Linux Mint 5 XFCE for around a month now. It has been a wonderful experience living with it. 8)

Just wanted to share this to acknowledge, appreciate & admire the GNU / Linux / Xorg / GTK / XFCE and of course the Mint developers. :D

Re: Linux Mint 5 Elyssa XFCE CE RC1 (BETA 025) is out!

Well, I'm not the only one waiting for this question still without an answer: "Will it be necessary to download the new iso or it just requires an update of the current beta 025?" T.I.A. Mentex You should be able to update to the final without any problems. I will see if I can get the latest packag...

Re: Linux Mint 5 Elyssa XFCE CE RC1 (BETA 025) is out!

A workaround on the first bug mentioned in my ante penultimate post. The up arrow key doesn't work in my terminal, so that I was not able to take commands from the history... not anymore. I just found out that there is a command called 'history' which lets you see the history and the serial no. of t...

Re: Linux Mint 5 Elyssa XFCE CE RC1 (BETA 025) is out!

An update on the bugs mentioned in my penultimate post. 1. I could not solve this. In fact this is a serious bug. The up arrow key doesn't work in my terminal and some other apps also. Due to this, I really miss the 'command history' feature in the terminal, since I have to type the commands manuall...

Re: Linux Mint 5 Elyssa XFCE CE RC1 (BETA 025) is out!

I went back to my old Mandriva 2008.1 XFCE installation to check the boot speed... Boy! the desktop / look & feel is even 'cooler' than Mint's. But of course, Mandriva in no where in comparison to Mint when features are considered. And boot speed on my system with PIII 533MHz & 192MB RAM, jus...

Re: Linux Mint 5 Elyssa XFCE CE RC1 (BETA 025) is out!

Just got three small bugs: 1. When trying to change the wallpaper, in the file selector window, the up arrow key doesn't work. 2. I auto-started the Calendar app. in the Office sub-menu, but it pops up every time I restart it, even though I gave it the option to start it hidden. 3. I installed Real ...

Re: Linux Mint 5 Elyssa XFCE CE RC1 (BETA 025) is out!

Hello all, Just finished downloading a few hours back and installed Mint 5 XFCE now. It is just COOOL! 8) It seems to be the best distro I've ever installed... I 've installed right from Slackware, Redhat, Suse, Debian to the later desktop oriented ones like Goblinx, Zenwalk, Dreamlinux etc. of whic...

Re: Linux Mint 5 Elyssa RC2 (BETA 048) is out!

Hello All, I had just downloaded Mint (beta 032), installed on my (roommate's) laptop and started testing last week... and lo, the second beta is out already. :? Anyway, I am happy to see the second beta out... but, just had a doubt, shouldn't we all test it a bit more, so that the final one comes o...
