Re: how to create ISO of my system ?
Hi jarp53, The backup tool, Relax & Recover, mentioned in my last post, did not have a GUI, whereas this one, Refracta, mentioned below, has a GUI. "These tools will work on most Debian or Devuan-based systems. Refracta is based on Devuan GNU/Linux. Everything installed in Refracta is free ...

Re: how to create ISO of my system ?
Hi jarp53, This looks like what you want (and maybe even more). If I understand your question correctly, you want to create an ISO of your system native partition, so that you could restore your system and/or clone it to another system. This 'Relax and Recover' app says it does just that. "It i...

Re: how to create ISO of my system ?
Hi jarp53, With the default Disks (gnome-disk-utility) application, I was able to make an image (.IMG) of my partition and also able to write it (IMG/ISO) to a flash disk. (OTT, Disks is also a good partition manager) And as per the below passage, the .IMG file can be simply renamed to .ISO, if it i...

Re: Added an LMDE version history section to wikipedia - pls edit
Hi James Hinnant, Can you please edit the Wiki entry where it refers to the base of LMDE? LMDE is based on Debian 7 (Wheezy) The above is referenced in this forum itself at https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=134061 In the WIki, presently, it is shown, Debian 8 (Jessie) as base of LMDE. Oth...

Re: LMDE4 freezes from time to time
I used to face this on my laptop also, but on LM (Ubuntu Edition) 18, which I had recently downloaded and installed then. And initially I thought that it used to happen when I used to run LibreOffice and Firefox together... Then I noticed even when I was using LibreOffice and Chrome, it was happenin...

Re: [SOLVED] Where does grub store its new image?
Hi, DO NOT USE GRUB CUSTOMISER https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.com/p/grub-customizer.html It comes up from time to time, it is always a bad idea. The article is written by Pjotr, a long standing member of the forum. It is a pity, that this excellent piece of software has such 'malicious'/'bugg...

Grub Customizer or no Grub Customizer?
Hi topolinik, This is not a direct answer to your question, but if your are a user like me, and not a developer, then try installing Grub Customizer, https://launchpad.net/grub-customizer Installing it should solve your problem, as it did in my case and I am very happy that I found this utility soft...

Re: Till when can I use LMDE 4?
Hi dekibirokrata, If I understood your question properly, please read the below (and also the linked pages) for a better understanding of LMDE. LMDE 4 (Debbie) is based on Debian 10 (Buster) LMDE 3 (Cindy) is based on Debian 9 (Stretch) LMDE 2 (Betsy) is based on Debian 8 (Jessie) The above is under...

Hello AlokOnMint, Have you got your Tata Docomo Photon+ (Huawei EC1260) device working on Linux Mint 13 Maya? If, no, had you tried by giving "internet" as both your username & password in Network Manager -> Edit Connections -> Mobile Broadband? Well, I just did, and it started working...

Great! Was in fact waiting for this day... looking forward to installing it on the PC (Athlon 1.6GHz & 256MB RAM) at my family home to dual boot with Ms Win. (my family can't yet live without her). I use only... ahem... I also actually dual boot or maybe quadruple boot - a FreeDOS & three GN...

Re: How to prevent a program from taking Thunar's place?
I've also noticed this happening in my friend's system with Ubuntu. For him, after installing Easytag, when he tries to open the file manager from the menu, Easytag opens up. Don't exactly know... but I am inclined to think that it is a bug. But, try entering 'thunar' and 'easytag' in the Terminal t...

Sure, it is! I second DapperMe17, FedoraRefugee & Zwopper in the title of the thread. I'll definitely post the teeny weeny problems that I have had / am facing with this distro under some other topics / threads, but still I can't, but admit that this is THE best XFCE based distro that I've tried...

Your system is just fine for running XFCE (Mint 5) except for that harddisk. BTW, did you say 2GB or 20GB? My system is a PIII 533MHz & 192MB RAM m/c with a 4GB partition for Mint 5 XFCE. I've have a 40GB HDD which works perfect with my system. The default install of Mint 5 XFCE takes around 2.2...

Try changing the Theme back to the original one, which is Elyssa, and the Icon Theme to Mint-Green, in Menu> Settings> User Interface Settings. If that doesn't work, right click on the menu button and select properties. Under Button, give the title you want. And under Icons, give this path, /usr/sha...

Unlock the window with your user password. If you don't use, 1. Printing devices, turn off CUPS. (this one usually takes a lot of t...

Re: Linux Mint 5 Elyssa XFCE CE RC1 (BETA 025) is out!
Hi all,
I have been using GNU/Linux Mint 5 XFCE for around a month now. It has been a wonderful experience living with it.
Just wanted to share this to acknowledge, appreciate & admire the GNU / Linux / Xorg / GTK / XFCE and of course the Mint developers.
Zaheer.
