Re: Motherboard Gigabyte A320M-S2H

Pablinux , I built a computer some time ago (a Gigabyte board, but not your one) but the point could well be relevant. The motherboard was new and had only recently been released/ I installed Mint and it did run, for seconds only. Then it would simply reboot itself and off we would go again. After m...

Re: Folding@home-Team Linux Mint-76140

Citizen229 folding has been set to maximum for as long as I can remember, but I have just set it back to medium and it certainly makes a difference to the responsiveness of the computer. I will be glad to see the back of Project 11713 as I seem to have been exclusively on this project for ever. Best...

Re: Folding@home-Team Linux Mint-76140

greerd, like you, my points per day started to decline, but that was about a month ago, long before "battlenut" joined the team. The whole computer had started to slow down and was most noticeable when opening a web browser like Firefox. I noticed that more and more doing anything else on the comput...

Re: Folding@home-Team Linux Mint-76140

greerd

I am running driver 390, which is the one that is offered. It appears to be slightly faster than on the Mint18 install. That could be down to the fact that Mint19 is now on a SSD.

I am NOT seeing any errors, it all looks to be running OK.

Re: Folding@home-Team Linux Mint-76140

Hi greerd,

that fixed it. Thank you for the help

Folding appears to be running 3 degrees C hotter and the TPF has gone down from 2 minutes 19 to 2 minutes 15.

best regards keith

p.s. I am hoping that our new top folder "battlenut" drops by and lets us know what he is folding with, curiousity.

Re: Folding@home-Team Linux Mint-76140

Hi team, I have jumped the boat early and downloaded Mint19 beta Mate 64 bit. The reason for my haste is that I have just purchased a SSD and was eager to see if I could get it working. I wanted Mint19 on the SSD and my home directory on a conventional drive. Well it all worked Ok, at the second att...

Re: which hard drive has Windows 7 on it?

Hi Termy,

thank you for the reply.

can you refresh this old brain please. As far as I remember the data cable is the smaller of the two cables that attach to the Sata drive.

which hard drive has Windows 7 on it?

Hi all, I have 5 hard drives in the computer, and physically they all look the same. One of them has Windows 7 on it, and I wish to remove that drive and replace it with a SSD. Unfortunately they are not marked or labeled in any way. Is there any way to know which one of them contains Windows withou...

Re: I'm sick of FUD and misinformation regarding Linux Mint

This propensity to get annoyed by what people say, seems to be driven by social media, where everybody is upset by something all of the time. It soon turns into a mob mentality where idiots lead the way. What happened to free thought and speech. Why on earth would you get upset or annoyed by someone...

Re: Folding@home-Team Linux Mint-76140

Citizen229, I too have wondered about bit-coins, but the more that I read the more confused I get. I saw a video on You-tube of a single bit-coin mining rig. It was in a mans garage. It was a very small unit. The noise was staggering, and the man said that the heat it was generating heated the whole...

900i,

I have been wondering where you had gone. It is sad to loose you, but I know the feeling about going for more cards.

As long as you are healthy and OK, then I wish you all the best.

p.s

Hope you come back some time with the cards you already have?

Hi All, really good news at last. We now stand at 200 in the ratings. Not sure how long this will last as there are teams coming up fast behind us. I am doing my little dance here before something changes. Well done everybody We can still use another few people with decent graphic cards to help us g...

Re: 10-year old desktop: intermittent shutdowns

Maikl, I built a new computer a few years ago and it would not run for more than a few minutes. There were no errors in the logs as it never had time to write them. It would just stop and reboot straight away. It turned out to be bad bios. Intel said they were surprised by this as the board manufact...
