Re: Why do new people give up on Linux?
But I'm a photographer and primarily want to use the computer to be productive in this area. Processing photos, managing large files, and managing a website should be pretty simple right? Buy a Mac. Besides being the authority in that area, you still have the development strengths of a Unix platfor...

Re: What does "end of support" mean for Linux Mint 16
If you want GNOME 2 and still be on the safe end, use CentOS 5, CentOS 6 or Debian Squeeze. And I'll add my +1 to the others' replies.

Re: Linux Deepin a new Linux Mint serious challenger
I don't think Mint has anything to worry about when it comes to Deepin. Deepin is a chinese made distro. The chinese government approves of cyber warfare and theft and since I'm not a power user and I can't comprehend computer code, I would never trust any distro that is chinese or north korean mad...

Re: qupzilla or midori?
As xenopeek's results demonstrate, Pale Moon is noticeably slower than Firefox - simply because at its base it is Firefox ESR, and ESR (24) is slower than Release (30+) by definition. ESR gets security fixes and so on, but not the performance improvents from later versions. Recompiling for SSE2 does...

I've used i3wm on Arch, but trying GNOME 3 again. Antergos/Manjaro etc. are not for me - it's easier to solve problems on a system you've built from the ground up.
And FYI, Arch has an (official) installer: Archboot.

Re: AttackVector Linux VS Tails Vs Kali
For the regular user it's a hard balance unless you're on Arch (which has linux-grsec kernels and predefined pax profiles) . I am using Manjaro as dual boot with Mint. Manjaro as you know is based on Arch. Does that mean I am using a linux-grsec kernel under Manjaro ? Need a confirmation for peace ...

Nobody blames you for taking the road that works for you.
Though Fedora is more aimed at users who can and are willing to help themselves, so you may end up disappointed.

Hmmm... The picture of the 'windows 8 secure boot kill switch', about a quarter of the way down the page.. Why does the original unphotoshopped image appear here http://wiep.net/talk/link-building/building-link-targeted-content-that-works-step-3-of-3-launching-monitoring-after-care/ labelled as a l...

Re: How to install DNSCrypt from source
The first part of the tutorial is a script - copy the contents in a text file and mark it executable (right click, properties), and run it in a terminal. The second part, upstart, is only if you use dns caching. What it says is to replace the last section (rc.local ...) of the above script. By the w...

The best advice to a "newb" is to avoid PPAs altogether... just my 2 cents.
