Re: Desktop takes 14s to load after entering password - lightdm problem?

Thank you for your reply smurphos, I didn't know about that utility. At first glance all appears well with only informational messages. I will have a more detailed look when I return from work this evening.

Re: Desktop takes 11s to load after entering password - lightdm problem?

Okay I just realized something obvious

[+1.79s] DEBUG: Prompt greeter with 1 message(s)
[+10.99s] DEBUG: Continue authentication

The delay here is how long I take to enter my password. I will have to find a different log to troubleshoot my issue.

Desktop takes 14s to load after entering password - lightdm problem?

After my PC boots and I enter my password at the login screen the desktop takes about 14 seconds to load. (Edit: Now timed with stopwatch) System info as follows System: Kernel: 4.12.5-041205-generic x86_64 (64 bit gcc: 6.3.0) Desktop: Cinnamon 3.4.4 (Gtk 3.18.9-1ubuntu3.3) Distro: Linux Mint 18.2 S...

Re: Mint 18.1 hangs on shutdown

The issue only seems to persist on the desktop where the above error is from. The laptop does not have the same error in the log and shuts down fast after I ran sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade Both are running the 4.9 kernel but the problem only surfaced after the upgrade to Mint 18.1 The l...

Re: Mint 18.1 hangs on shutdown

I am not getting hangs but the shutdown process is taking a lot longer, both on my desktop and laptop. I will be having a look at the logs tonight to see if anything is obviously wrong.

Just wanted to thank Clem and the team for their hard work over the last few days. Very sad that some low life parasite goes after a community project. I will be donating again and I am really looking forward to Mint 18!

Network settings - Manaul DNS server entries

Hello I have set my raspberry pi up as a bind9 caching and forwarding server using this https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-configure-bind-as-a-caching-or-forwarding-dns-server-on-ubuntu-14-04 post. My question is, in network settings where you can manually add DNS servers which ...

Happy to report that this is nothing to do with my computer or Mint. The mouse was the culprit. Only got another one to test with today. No issues at all.

Re: Keyboard and mouse stop responding

Just out of curosity I have detached my (non HP) printer

Polaris hp-config_usb_printer: hp-config_usb_printer[13959]: error: This is not a valid device

to see if it is the cause of the issue. And also my HP keyboard and returned to a Logitech keyboard.

Keyboard and mouse stop responding (SOLVED)

Hello Over the last few weeks I have started having an intermitant fault where my keyboard and mouse stop responding. Re: Linux Mint 17 Desktop Sharing Vino Settings not working

Remus 174, you are not the only one having this issue. This is mildly disappointing. Remote desktop sharing is something that should work out of the box. I am not pointing the finger at Mint, the issue appears to lie elsewhere. The easiest solution I have found is teamviewer (provided you are using ...
