Re: Linux Mint 19 "Tara" Xfce released!

Just downloading an image for installation now. I see that there is a "v2" of the 64-bit XFCE edition in the verification file `sha256sum.txt` but the file I downloaded (from U. of Canterbury mirror in New Zealand) is version 1 judging by its sha256 hash. Anything important to know about this "versi...

Re: Installed Arch on second partition. Now mint has very long boot time and no resume after drained battery.

I'm posting again to update that I have solved at least one of the two problems listed in my original post. Hope this is of use to someone in the future. The slow boot was caused by the fact that I removed my swap partition (having decided to try going without, since I have plenty of RAM). The `etc/...

Installed Arch on second partition. Now mint has very long boot time and no resume after drained battery.

Basically all in the title! I've been using Mint 18.1 for some time now. I have a SSD so boot time has been pretty snappy. Then I got "the itch" to try a new distro for a bit. Resized my Mint partition, installed Manjaro alongside it. Manjaro took over my GRUB boot loader, as is typical when install...

Re: Menu lag

Thanks all41.

So then,

1) I take that to mean that there is no solution forthcoming in MATE?
2) Do I understand you're saying it's been solved in Cinnamon? If so, maybe I'll try Cinnamon again next upgrade....

Cheers

Menu lag

I run 17.3 MATE edition, and I wanted to chime in about frustration surrounding a seemingly common problem, a sometimes-slow Start menu / Mint Menu. Apologies if this is replicated elsewhere in a MATE thread but I wasn't able to find it when I looked. (I did some searching on this issue and it appea...

Re: Command for "show desktop"

I had to create a shell script to implement. Thought there would be a native command in Mint distro that performs same task. I.e., given the existence of the button, a casual user (those who don't write shell scripts in a normal day's work) might expect there to be something like "wmctrl -k toggle" ...

Command for "show desktop"

I'm trying to implement hot-corner functionality for show-desktop. I use Compiz on Mint 17.3 MATE 64-bit edition. I'd like to know what to type into the "Commands" / "Edge bindings" box so that I can have it show the desktop anytime I move mouse to a hot corner. I've googled extensively and haven't ...

Re: Panel Menu Not Responding to Mouse Clicks

I am posting this here because I just encountered the same problem on my new installation of Linux Mint 17.2 (Cinnamon). Here is a link to a bug thread for the issue, which has been around for a long time apparently. I hope this is something the Mint team addresses! https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxm...
