Re: ttf-mscorefonts-installer won't accept EULA assent in Mint 19

IIRC, get to the OK button with TAB and/or arrow keys. It'll hi-light, then hit carriage-return (enter). Edit: I just ran it. Use left/right arrow keys or TAB to get to OK Eureka, with a detail to add. I tabbed and it immediately highlighted the OK. Then I pressed Enter and I was asked if I agreed ...

Re: The Application manager (Mint Install) does not request password to be accessed or for installations

Dear friends, Both to enter the Application Manager (Mint Install) and to install an application These are two separate things. Mint Install (aka Software Manager) does not usually require a password to open, any more than Synaptic (the older installation tool). This is normal. Usually, installatio...

to the OP:
there is nothing asinine in wanting to keep something you have grown attached to.
It's fine, and very human, to want it. It's still, in this case, a bad idea to do it.
OK, I've updated. I'm marking this solved.

Keeping a version of Chrome I like, right or wrong? [SOLVED]

On my laptop I installed Chrome direct from the Google website, without adding the repository. As a result, I still have version Version 68.0.3440.84 (Official Build) (64-bit). This has a nifty button that allows me to switch between the three "identities" (used for different purposes), each synched...

LM 19 (Tara) setting default keyboard language (SOLVED)

Ever since I clean installed Linux Mint 19 (Tara) Cinnamon I can't get the system to default to English (intl. with AltGr dead keys) , as opposed to English (US) . I still use English mainly, but I frequently write in Spanish and French and don't like to have to fix plain English (the plain dead key...

Re: Autokey opens window at startup [Solved]

I use Autokey, text expansion/replacement utility, and I have it set as a startup application. However, ever since I clean installed Linux Mint 19 Tara, it pops up at startup with the window open rather than as a running application icon on the toolbar. I can close the window and it continues to run...

Re: chrome or firefox?

Both. I use Chrome for netsurfing for which I want a history that is synchronized in every device I have. The syncing is easy, simple and it just works. I don't like about Chrome that you can't set it to open a new tab when you click on a link or search for something. The zooming is somewhat clumsy,...

Right, you need a backup for your user data. /home in an own partitions gives you the chance to a clean install without loosing all user data and settings.
I just posted a question on this. I had a partition. Now I'm wondering whether to remake it and restore to that.

/home ... to partition or not to partition

I had one ... until I had to wipeout clean install (AFTER backing up, natch). The computer now flies!!!!

Do I really need a separate partition? I'm even questioning whether I need all my data back.

Re: After Clean Install (what to do, or not)

Did you wipe out your previous /home? Did you back up your previous /home? The basic questions are: what do you want your computer to do for you? and what are you willing to do for your computer? - What applications were you not routinely using before? - Why do you have "kewl" applications? - Why d...
