Re: New monitor and oblong Mint logo

I don't know if this is related to your problem, but 1920 x 690 is not 16:9. 1920 x 1080 is 16:9. If the logo is stretched up and down as opposed to right to left, I'd bet this has something to do with it. Weird. Now it says 1920 x 1080. Of course, that's after Mint has loaded. While loading the lo...

Re: New monitor and oblong Mint logo

What is the native resolution of the monitor and what options do you get for monitor resolutions in mint? Not sure about native. In system settings > display it says it's a 22" Dell and the resolution is 1920 x 690 (16:9). In theory I can set it all the way to 800 x 600, but I get an error from Lin...

New monitor and oblong Mint logo

I had to get rid of my beloved squarish monitor and got one of the rectangular ones that are in vogue. The problem is that when it first boots up in my Linux Mint 19.3 Tricia, the round icon comes out oblong. No problem in my laptop: perfectly circular logo. There must be some default setting I have...

Like most things Linux there are many different ways to perform a task.
Sorry, I do not know your Linux skill level, so before making any suggestions I need to know more information
I'm doing it one way, but I would be happy to learn of another (preferably GUI) way as I answered.

I use rsync on the command line.
Working as I type!!!
However, it's going on and on with files in ./cache ... this necessary?
OK, now it's copying "real" (my documents) data.

The best I know of is Sticky-Indicator. Essentially sticky notes.

Note on desktop? [SOLVED]

What's the best way to place a reminder note on the desktop?

I tried the Notes desklet and it's never clear where it is and you can't resize it and, and, and ...

Is there something simpler? What do you do?

I found this Shorten boot time “apt-daily.service” advice for Ubuntu Mate https://ubuntu-mate.community/t/shorten ... vice/12297. Would it work for Linux Mint (Cinnamon) 19.2 Tina 64-bit?

just copy and paste them for accuracy and try them out first before addressing anything else just yet...DAMIEN
Ok, DAMIEN, you're suggesting I use the shutdown and reboot commands and then take the system-analyze measurements again?

I note your computer boots MUCH faster.

A bootup 0 like shutdown 0?

I have a desktop command icon I made that calls for shutdown 0 which yields an ultra fast exit from the system. However booting up is a different story: ~$ systemd-analyze Startup finished in 11.169s (firmware) + 4.556s (loader) + 4.161s (kernel) + 52.377s (userspace) = 1min 12.265s graphical.target...

I just loaded Seamonkey 2.49.4 and it sent me to download 2.49.5. Software Manager has the older version. Do I really need the newer one?
