Re: All forums user should reset their password

In reference to recent email advising that The Linux Mint forums software was compromised by an external attacker. As a result, the attacker has gained access to read your username, email address and an encrypted (hashed and salted) copy of your password from the forum database. that password that w...

Re: Linux Mint 17 installation

Regarding the issue of installing Linux Mint 17, I received an email from OSDisc.com (the site I bought the disc from) stating: What you described means that your computer has a graphics card or graphics chipset that is no longer supported in Linux Mint 17 v2 Cinnamon. Linux Mint 17 v2 Cinnamon only...

Re: Linux Mint 17 OS disc

To Pierre: I get no mention about a video driver update while in live-mode. Regarding the command you want me to use--is CODE: SELECT ALL part of the command? One issue that nobody has addressed is why I had no trouble with Linux Mint 16. What is the difference between version 16 and version 17 that...

Re: Linux Mint 17 OS disc

I did what you suggested. After several screens full of text, the main screen came up, along with a message: Running in software rendering mode Cinnamon is currently running without video hardware acceleration and, as a result, you may observe much higher than normal CPU usage. There could be a prob...

Re: installing Linux Mint 16 Cinnamon

To EmpireTech: I intend to run Linux along with Windows 7 (dual boot). Question: The 1.3 GB ISO for Cinnamon, is that the entire file? If I can't download that large a file (mainly because of time constraints), what site do I go to buy a DVD? (I already bought the Linux Mint 16 version but don't rem...

Re: installing Linux Mint 16 Cinnamon

To gtsfer: You have to be joking! In order to run the command I have to first boot up using the Linux disk. I can then highlight the output just as you said. Then, in order to get back to the Linux Mint forum, I have to reboot to Windows 7. During that process my computer will be OFF for at least a ...

Re: installing Linux Mint 16 Cinnamon

I booted to the Linux mint 16 disk, brought up the Terminal window and entered the command. Now I need a way to get all that info into a document that can either be printed or converted to a file that can be transferred to Windows, because it is simply too much data to copy by hand.

I recently purchased a copy of the Linux Mint 16 Cinnamon disk which I tried, without success, to install on my system. I requested help from this forum on this problem on 14 Jan 2014 and got several replies, one of which (wayne128) suggested my problem could be lack of a good graphics card. However...

Re: Trouble installing Linux Mint

I paid $5.95 for a Linux Mint DVD and now I can't use it. I guess I have two options: 1) Download Mint16-Mate or 2) buy a new graphics card. Regarding option 1--where do I go to download Mint16-Mate? Assuming Mint16-Mate is too large to me to download within a reasonable amount of time, what recomme...
