Re: Signal Messenger app
It's your own topic about this very application, I can't think of a better place. No, I don't think you can make Signal do that. It doesn't keep your messages on its server as far as I know; that's a part of what makes it secure. If you want something that's more like WhatsApp in that regard, but n...

Re: Signal Messenger app
It might not be a correct forum to ask questions on this topic, but as we are using a common OS for using that app so I would like to know :
I found Signal does not imports past messages which Whatsapp's web version does.
Is there any way we can make Signal to do that ?

Re: Signal Messenger app
I also read this on their website, in case it helps others : I'm unable to link Signal Desktop. How do I resolve this? There is a limit of 5 linked devices. Confirm you have not hit this limit. Check firewall and network settings. If you have a VPN or firewall, make sure you allow *.signal.org, *.wh...

Re: Signal Messenger app
I have it on my 19.3 Cinnamon machine. It works fine. Can't comment on security on this or any other application as I'm a user, not an expert, but if you accept that the Android app is secure then it seems reasonable to believe the Linux one is probably OK. Be aware that the Linux app is not a stan...

Signal Messenger app
Signal Messenger app (https://signal.org/download/) Has any one used the Signal app on Linux ? As they are not available on the official repo, I wish to know how safe is it ? They do not seem to be having web based interface. Their website mentions : Linux (Debian-based) Install Instructions # NOTE...

Re: Firefox Popups
On the one hand, you tell Computers using the same wifi claim that they do not face any such problem. So I am not sure at what level is the problem occurring. It should not be a problem with the router. I have asked other users again (they too use Mint) they are not facing any such problem. On the ...

Re: Firefox Popups
Hello, mintymatrix. Here on my ancient Mint 18.1 Cinnamon with Firefox 84.0, but without any special ad-blocker installed, I cannot reproduce the problem, which you report. Therefore I wonder which Mint version and more importantly which Firefox version you are using? Please, open a terminal window...

Re: Firefox Popups
Enabled HTTPS-ONLY mode in Firefox.
Seems that has made things better.

Re: Firefox Popups
I have also noticed that the websites (http://openprinting.org/printers), clicking on which those adverts appear, are all showing ' insecure connection ' warning in the url bar. A screen shot of most recent cookies is attached here. Those marked in red are the most common. cookies.png Even if I dele...

Re: Firefox Popups
I temporarily changed my internet connection and it seems it has stopped . If that is the case then it must be something to do with the wifi router or my firewall etc. Might not be a browser problem. That's strange. This might have some info: https://trends.builtwith.com/websitelist/Magnific-Popup/...

Re: Firefox Popups
Went back to the previous internet connection and the problem is again there.
Though I had to refresh the browser page, to get the problem again.
And now the advert has changed.

Re: Firefox Popups
... No I do not use any advert blocker. But how is it that others are not getting them but I am ? I suspect they may be using adblockers. I don;t think it matters who else is using the router. I'd install uBlock Origin as suggested, it's the best ad blocker I've foiund, it does stop popups very wel...

Re: Firefox Popups
Well I tried Firefox with absolutely no add-ons in my VitualBox copy of Mint 20. Both URLs opened successfully with no attempt to open any further tabs displaying adverts. It sounds, to me, like your version of Firefox has become infected with some sort of Browser redirect or redirect virus. Althou...

Re: Firefox Popups
In addition to what RIH suggested above, you could try to start Firefox with a "blank slate" in order to determine if your current profile has got corrupted or not: Close all the instances of Firefox. Copy, paste and run the codes below in a terminal. Delete cache. rm ~/.cache/mozilla Bac...

Re: Firefox Popups
I don't use FireFox (fell out of love with it a few years ago) but use Opera. Nothing pops-up when I load either of those web pages on it. What Advert Blocker (if any) are you using with FireFox? Have you tried uBlock Origin, as that works very well for me? No I do not use any advert blocker. But h...
