Re: Breaking: Update Manager in 19.2 will no longer feature a protective level system

@ DAMIEN1307, @ smurphos I've read both of your replies and looked at the links. But, from my first hand experience with a security kernel update in a previous version of Mint, I'll tell you what happened to me when I did one of those Level 4 "security" updates for a kernel. When I did the update an...

Re: Breaking: Update Manager in 19.2 will no longer feature a protective level system

When I install a new Mint version, I always use the kernel provided by default. If that kernel works without giving me any problems, I don't install any other kernel and this is the reason why I always hide Level 4 updates because kernel updates were Level 4. I like the old adage, "If it ain't broke...

Re: What type of computer or device do you primarily use?

Those are interesting links. Thanks for sharing them. Is the webcam on a tower? It seems really high up. The houses at the small town of Crystal Beach, Tx; they are all beach houses. Which means the base of the houses are on 12' high stilts. The webcam is located on a 2 story beach house where the ...

Re: What type of computer or device do you primarily use?

I have 4 computers (2 desktop towers, 2 laptops). I gave one of my 14" laptops (Intel i5 processor @ 2.67 speed) to my wife since there are days my wife's 11" iPad tablet screen is just too small for what she wants to see. This leaves me with two desktop towers and one laptop. My main everyday daily...

I have two Logitech K740 wired illuminated USB keyboards and they both work in my two HP desktop tower computers (different HP year and models) running linux (Mint 19.1).

Re: Monthly News – February 2019

I do not care for the modern flat look for the new Mint logo with it's featureless circle. Boring and unappealing as month old stale bread. I like MadmanRD's colorful designs as alternatives. On a side note, I tried the modern flat looking Mint-Y themes in 19 (and in 19.1) and just do not care for i...

Re: Linux Mint 19.1: A sneaky popular distro skips upheaval, offers small upgrades

I have 4 computers (2 desktop towers, 2 laptops) so the hardware is definitely different for each computer and 64 bit Linux Mint 19.1 (Tessa) Xfce runs great on all 4 of my computers.

Re: Whats everyone currently listening to?

I like many musical instruments. One of my favorites is the old steel guitar. There was an instrumental song in 1959 which was a pop #1 song back then. It was named "Sleep Walk". When I'm working on any of my four computers (2 desktop towers, 2 laptops), I usually have this song playing in the backg...

Re: M$ is readying a consumer Microsoft 365 subscription bundle

If Microsoft plans to go the subscription route, I think it will happen when Windows 7 reaches it's end of life on January 14, 2020 and is no longer supported by Microsoft. The way I figure it, the only other Windows operating system with a longer life is Windows 8.1 which Microsoft ends support for...

Re: Whats everyone currently listening to?

Here is a song by Joe Bonamassa. Joe's genre is blues music. The one below is a blues ballad. Took a few recording sessions to splice this song together. Watch the video in full screen mode to get the full enjoyment of the recording sessions since Joe plays three different guitars in this video. Bes...

Re: mint 19.1 does not fix AMD graphics issue of 19

I've got the same problem on my Mint 19 (Tara) Xfce hard drives which are in my two desktop tower computers. One desktop tower has an AMD graphics card in it and the second desktop tower has an Nvidia graphics card. Right before the Desktop loads, it shows some weird colors when I start up both of t...

Re: Teamviewer 14 - Login Problem on LM 18.3

Just a heads up. Teamviewer 14.0.14470 just came up in my Update Manager. I left clicked on it to remove the check mark. That highlighted it so I right clicked on it and when the context menu appeared, I left clicked "ignore packages". I don't trust TV 14 since it didn't work between my computer and...

Re: Usernames

My username comes from the 1977 movie about "bats" and it is titled, "NightWing". At the time I couldn't find a decent colored bat avatar so I chose another animal that hunts at night which is a barn owl. I can't show my avatar since I don't use third party photo storage sites and this Mint forum si...

Re: Teamviewer not found in Software Manager

When you install Mint, TV is not found in the Update Manager. You have to go to the TV site, download the correct bit .deb tar ball and then install it. I install mine using Gdebi Package Installer. Once TV has been installed in Mint, it is listed in "Internet" in the Mint menu. From then on the upd...

Re: Teamviewer 14 - Login Problem on LM 18.3

I had the same problem. I'm using Mint 19. I couldn't connect to my sister-in-law's computer via TV 14. I was running a version of TV 13 before the update. TV 14 was updated through the Update Manager. I went to the TV site and on the TV site, TV 14 is listed as a Preview which is a beta to me. Afte...

Re: Anything to replace Flash yet?

I'm an avid outdoors person. Lots of sites I visit everyday still use Flash. I think this one below in the link uses Flash. It is a streaming webcam for a 24/7 fishing pier on the upper Texas coast. Just google another webcam for the same pier? First google result, needs no flash: http://www.61stpi...
