Re: Any WayTo Overide 15 Minute Logins?

I've had that happen to me after my computer came out out of sleep, I got a login screen everytime. In my case, it was due to Light Locker's default setting of "on" (enable light locker). I had to turn "off" Light Locker, then rebooted Mint and after my computer came out of sleep, no more login scre...

Re: MintReport keeps on telling me to add Xapp-Status-Applet to the Xfce4-panel

I already ran into this a few days ago. I uninstalled MintReport. See my last post at 8:00 am (my time since I live in Texas in the USA) today (Dec 27th) in the "Mint 19.3: Set The Root Password "Nag Screen" topic under Software and Applications forum.

Re: Mint 19.3: Set The Root Password "Nag Screen"

I think you might be missing the point. Speaking for myself, and I assume others, a very large appeal of Linux is that it specifically does NOT nag. I was very disheartened when I saw the little triangle in my system tray, urging me to switch from my current 19.2 to 19.3. Who else had flashbacks to...

@ karlchen Thanks for the pictures. I know it takes some time and effort on your part to post the pictures and I appreciate your help as well. As the say, "a picture is worth a thousand words". I just want to make sure you get the "public credit" help wise. People like me do not take your help or Je...

Re: Update Manager Shield Disappearing After Mint Update 5.5.8

Night Wing, in terminal mintupdate Post any errors I had a similar issue with that update. Normally after an update for Update Manager occurs, it restarts but after that update it never restarted. To fix I had to use terminal with sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade Then all was well after a reboot...

Re: Update Manager Shield Disappearing After Mint Update 5.5.8

Well, after my post I went to bed and got another 3 hours of sleep. I just turned on my computer and after Mint loaded to the Desktop picture, the Panel is missing my Update Manager's shield's icon and since I don't have the shield, I can't check under File to see the two choices because if my memor...

Update Manager Shield Disappearing After Mint Update 5.5.8

I had an update via the Update Manager (shield) on my Panel. It was "mintupdate 5.5.8". After the installation of this update, my Update Manager's shield disappeared from the Panel. In order to get it back, I had to re-boot the computer I'm using, sometimes two or three times to get the Update Manag...

Re: Mint 19.3: Set The Root Password "Nag Screen"

I figured how to get rid of the nag screen. With the other prompts, there was "Ignore this problem", but on the root password, the prompt was "I Understand". I didn't want to click on the "understand" button because I was very leery of it automatically opening up the terminal. Basically, the termina...

Re: Set The Root Password "Nag Screen"

You don't have to do anything really, there's no value in setting the root password. Instead there should be a link or button to ignore/acknowledge the message and it won't show again. Unfortunately, there is no "ignore this problem" button. The only button I have is, "I Understand" and I am not go...

Mint 19.3: Set The Root Password "Nag Screen" [resolved by mintreport 1.1.4]

I've got one of my four computers updated to 64 bit Linux Mint (Tricia) 19.3 Xfce. The only thing I've fuzzy on is this "nag screen" which I see everytime I turn on my computer. The prompt is "some problems were detected which require your attention". The nag screen wants me to "Set the root passwor...

Re: [SOLVED]Updates began failing - Mint 19

I also dual boot 64 bit Linux Mint 19.2 (Tina) Xfce (default distro) and 64 bit Windows 7 (backup operating system) since some of my friends are still using Windows 7 and I help them out from time to time. Since I basically use a desktop tower computer, I have two hard drives in each of my two deskt...

Re: [SOLVED] Power button on laptop not shutting down?

@ 80s_Fan This is just a shot in the dark. I have one desktop tower computer that is also wireless. I had the wireless connection disabled since I use an ethernet cable for the desktop tower . I had the same problem. When I chose to shut down my desktop tower computer, it would turn off and then a f...

Re: Linux Mint 19.2 “Tina” Xfce released!

I did find one small bug. I've always been able to highlight the Navigation/Address Bar in Firefox with one left click, instead of two left clicks, by changing the default in "about:config": browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll which by default is "False" and I change it to "True". browser.urlbar.doubleCl...

Ever since my late father introduced me to the sea when I was 8 years old, from that time forward I always felt the sea was in my blood and it was my destiny. I'm just lucky I found my calling in the maritime industry. Now that I'm retired from the maritime industry, I miss the feel of the deck of a...

Re: firefox's cookie auto deletion extension - do you use it?

I have never bothered to clear cookies, and have never had a problem not doing so. you will loose your website preferences when you do so, and that to me, is totally unacceptable. Same for me. I don't use the extension because I don't want to lose my website preferences since I have lots of sites I...

Re: No Flash Update?

Has Mint stopped flash updates or are they just slow? I don't have the current version 32.0.0.207. I know I can update it manually, but would rather it come as usual from Mint. Some of the websites I frequent which have streaming webcams still use Flash. If Flash is not installed, I cannot see the ...
