Re: [SOLVED] Power button on laptop not shutting down?

@ 80s_Fan This is just a shot in the dark. I have one desktop tower computer that is also wireless. I had the wireless connection disabled since I use an ethernet cable for the desktop tower . I had the same problem. When I chose to shut down my desktop tower computer, it would turn off and then a f...

Re: Linux Mint 19.2 “Tina” Xfce released!

I did find one small bug. I've always been able to highlight the Navigation/Address Bar in Firefox with one left click, instead of two left clicks, by changing the default in "about:config": browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll which by default is "False" and I change it to "True". browser.urlbar.doubleCl...

Re: Whats everyone currently listening to?

Ever since my late father introduced me to the sea when I was 8 years old, from that time forward I always felt the sea was in my blood and it was my destiny. I'm just lucky I found my calling in the maritime industry. Now that I'm retired from the maritime industry, I miss the feel of the deck of a...

Re: firefox's cookie auto deletion extension - do you use it?

I have never bothered to clear cookies, and have never had a problem not doing so. you will loose your website preferences when you do so, and that to me, is totally unacceptable. Same for me. I don't use the extension because I don't want to lose my website preferences since I have lots of sites I...

Re: No Flash Update?

Has Mint stopped flash updates or are they just slow? I don't have the current version 32.0.0.207. I know I can update it manually, but would rather it come as usual from Mint. Some of the websites I frequent which have streaming webcams still use Flash. If Flash is not installed, I cannot see the ...

I'm into standup paddle boarding. Both flat water cruising and sup surfing waves. Below is my favorite sup surfing drone video. Watch it in a high definition (HD) setting of 720p or 1080p. And of course, full screen mode.

Re: Who is your ISP ? What kind of connection are you using ?

My ISP is Comcast/Xfinity. With a wired ethernet connection to my two desktop tower computers and using Speedtest to test my internet speed; for Downloads I get 298 Mbps and for Uploads I get 11 Mbps.

Re: TeamViewer

Hi Night Wing, My position is Mint 18 has been rock solid for me and I don’t really care if I have TV or not. However, a number of friends seem to rely on me to fix their computers when they break them, which is rather too often. Yes they belong to the “click everything brigade” and I don’t know ho...

Re: TeamViewer

@ Bob M I think the main problem is TV 14 isn't going to work well anymore on Mint 18. I've wiped 2 machines that were running Mint 17 and 2 machines that were running Mint 18, for people, which didn't work with TV 14. I did a clean install of Mint 19.1 and TV 14 works on all 4 machines. If you want...

Re: TeamViewer

I therefore guess it is safe to say that Mint 18 and TeamViewer 14 are not compatible? So what now? :? I suggest upgrading to (Mint 19.1). And if you do decide to upgrade to 19.1, you'll have to first download and install Teamviewer 14.2.8352 and I suggest downloading it from the Teamviewer page be...

Re: TeamViewer

@ Bob M We have 4 computers in our home. All of them dual boot Mint 19.1 Xfce and Windows 7. All of them can talk to each other via Teamviewer (14.2.8352). Which means, linux TV to linux TV, windows TV to windows TV, linux TV to windows TV and windows TV to linux TV. No problems anywhere. But, my si...

Re: When for FF 66.0.4?

Some users in windows Firefox 66.0.4 are still having problems with all their extensions being disabled. So Mozilla has released 66.0.5 now.

Just have to wait until linux Firefox 66.0.5 will be released by the Mint developers to us.

Re: Breaking: Update Manager in 19.2 will no longer feature a protective level system

@ DAMIEN1307, @ smurphos I've read both of your replies and looked at the links. But, from my first hand experience with a security kernel update in a previous version of Mint, I'll tell you what happened to me when I did one of those Level 4 "security" updates for a kernel. When I did the update an...

Re: Breaking: Update Manager in 19.2 will no longer feature a protective level system

When I install a new Mint version, I always use the kernel provided by default. If that kernel works without giving me any problems, I don't install any other kernel and this is the reason why I always hide Level 4 updates because kernel updates were Level 4. I like the old adage, "If it ain't broke...

Re: What type of computer or device do you primarily use?

Those are interesting links. Thanks for sharing them. Is the webcam on a tower? It seems really high up. The houses at the small town of Crystal Beach, Tx; they are all beach houses. Which means the base of the houses are on 12' high stilts. The webcam is located on a 2 story beach house where the ...

Re: What type of computer or device do you primarily use?

I have 4 computers (2 desktop towers, 2 laptops). I gave one of my 14" laptops (Intel i5 processor @ 2.67 speed) to my wife since there are days my wife's 11" iPad tablet screen is just too small for what she wants to see. This leaves me with two desktop towers and one laptop. My main everyday daily...
