Re: anyone else have this issue after updating Firefox to 125.0.1?
Firefox is not my everyday browser. With said, I checked my Firefox browser and it is not the 125.0.1 version. It is on the 125.0.2 version. Have you received your 125.0.2 version through the Update Manager? Exact same issue exists with 125.0.2. Just updated, restarted and rechecked. Are you not ex...

Re: Firefox update lagging behind official Mozilla release (potential security issue)
The problem might be on Mozilla's end (some what).
The newest Firefox version as of today (3-22-24) is 124.0.1 when using the tarball. Since Firefox 124.0.0 was released this past Tuesday (3-19-24), looks like there was a problem with that version.

Concerning AI, I will play "Devil's Advocate" here.
With the above said, can you think of "Skynet" from a movie where the AI becomes self aware and decides the human race is inferior and needs to be terminated.

@ afterfx You are using Mint 21.3 and I am also using Mint 21.3. In your Menu, do you have a program listed under System named "System Reports"? If you do, then click on it and the Systems Report window will open. Then click on "System Information" and all system specifications w...

Re: How long have you been using Linux ?
I started to look at linux distros when Windows 8 was released in October of 2012. Demoed a few until I found Mint in January of 2013. Lurked on this site since that time and then registered on this site to become a member in December of 2013.

Re: I tried Debian XFCE and Xubuntu today
I am still playing around with Debian 12.4 (Bookworm) in the Xfce desktop environment. When you want to find your system's information, when using Mint Xfce, bring up the Menu, then in System, you click on the System Reports icon and then go to System Information. System Reports is installed by defa...

Re: Will there be a time when PCs will have a MSFT semi-lock?
I tried to update the wife's old laptop to Windows 11, when I did so, I did not allow a Microsoft account, and my wifi was totally disabled, and nothing I or a friend (who is a techie) could do could get it unfarked. Microsoft made Windows 11 to be installed only with a Microsoft account and no loc...

Re: I tried Debian XFCE and Xubuntu today
I have 4 computers (2 desktop towers, 2 laptops). Each desktop tower has 3 hard drives in them. So there are a total of 8 hard drives. There are 5 hard drives running MX Linux Xfce, 2 hard drives running Mint Xfce and 1 hard drive running Debian Xfce. I am typing this message using Debian. Like it w...

Re: Linux Mint 21.3 Release Date?
Mint 21.3 has been approved for stable release. Should be available once all the mirrors have it and then it should show up on the Mint home website.

Re: Old Laptops
I have two "old" laptops. I must say though, my other two computers are my two desktop tower computers and they are used with a 32" ViewSonic external monitor. These are my two favorite computers which I use everyday. One desktop tower has two SSD's in it and they run (at this time) 6...

Re: Cinnamon vs MATE vs XFCE
I have been using Mint with Xfce since 2013. It is very good for older machines, but it is great for newer machines as well. I rebuilt one of my desktop towers discarding old hardware and replacing it with all new hardware inside of it which you can see below. Combined with my ISP's download speed o...

Re: Thorium browswe
I am not a fan of using the Terminal to install things. I only use the Terminal when I'm boxed into a corner and the Terminal is the only way left to install things. If they are other ways to install Thorium without using the Terminal, I would use them. With the above said, if I was going to install...

Re: Non-Mint: MX Linux or Pop!_OS?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you transposed some numbers concerning what version Libretto is. It is now at (23.1). Exactly correct. Thank you for noticing. I will edit to correct. Do you use it too? Yes, I do use MX 23.1 (Libretto) Xfce. It is on one of my two HP desktop tower computers whi...

Re: Non-Mint: MX Linux or Pop!_OS?
I've got 4 computers (2 desktop towers, 2 laptops). One desktop tower and one laptop run Linux Mint. The second desktop tower and the second laptop run MX Linux.
MX Linux is a very good linux distro. I've been running MX Linux for over one year now. I see no need to change from MX Linux either.

Re: shutdown button not clickable
Since your friend seems to have the shutdown button grayed out and can't shut down properly, I can make a suggestion since your friend is running Xfce. I run Xfce. 1) Open the Terminal 2) Type: sudo shutdown now 3) The Terminal will ask for your friend's password at the prompt 4) Type in the passwor...

Re: which xfce based distro do you prefer?
XFCE wise, for me I prefer MX Linux and Linux Mint. Comparing the two side by side is tough for me, but I give a slight edge in favor of MX over Mint simply because of the very, very slow download speed of the Firefox updates (no matter if a different mirror is used), which Mint has. The different m...

Re: Mint 22 open thread
What I would like to see in Mint 22. A much faster download speed for the Firefox browser. When I first see the update for Firefox, it usually is a 10-20 minute wait for the download to complete. No matter what the fastest mirror I switch to, even if it is 4 MB per second, it still is a 10-20 minute...

Re: Waterfox Browser
Looks like someone who helps develop Waterfox finally noticed what I was complaining about when I said if one clicks on a bookmark, instead of it showing up in the original tab, it created a new tab. So clicking on five different bookmarks created five tabs when it should not have. Watefox paid no a...
