Problem solved.

My problem turned out to be faulty arduino nano clone boards. From banggood.
I pulled an old one out and it took an upload successfully.

Thanks for the replies.

Re: Linux equivalent to Win7 device manager.

https://askubuntu.com/questions/1056314/uploading-code-to-arduino-gives-me-the-error-avrdude-ser-open-cant-open-d Thanks for that link; it contains a number of useful tips. However, I failed to mention that this problem exists when I try uploading in my Linux operating system and my Win7 system. So...

Linux equivalent to Win7 device manager. (solved).

I am trying to get my one of my computers to connect to an arduino nano and upload a sketch. I see the error notice: stk500_getsync problem. I've tried 3 computers, multiple boards and cables, all the usual suspects. In Win 7 control panel > system > device manager, I am able to see the port connect...

Re: Port permissions access denied in arduino.

That fixed it Rene, thanks very much for sticking with me on this.
Linux permission problems have haunted me since I first started out with Linux.
One of the few things I hate about it.

Re: Port permissions access denied in arduino.

................, If you run ls -l /dev/ttyS0 , or ls -l /dev/ttyUSB0 or (both those in one go) ls -l /dev/tty{S,USB}0 you are going to see user and group information (in the USB case if the board/adapter is in fact connected since otherwise the /dev/ttyUSB0 node generally won't even exist)...........

Re: Port permissions access denied in arduino.

As in "Command not found" ............[/command not found] If latter; sure you spelled it right, i.e., not with an "o" again? Because since as far as I'm aware /dev/ttyS0 exists even on systems without actual legacy serial ports; certainly does on this one. ................ I am...

Port permissions access denied in arduino.(solved).

I am using Linux Mint 19.3 on an Asus desktop computer running Arduino 1.8.10 Under tools in the Arduino IDE, the port can be selected from (usually) two options. When either one is selected, it results in a failed upload due to "permission denied". The ports are: 1. /dev/ttySo 2. /dev/tty...

"Brave" browser feedback please? (Solved).

I am receiving suggestions to use Brave as my browser.
I'm currently using FireFox, which seems to be perfectly satisfactory.
Are there good reasons to try Brave as a browser?
If so, what are the advantages please?

Re: Permission problems again!

Thanks for the replies phd21, deepak and pbear.

I appears that my mistake in the first place was to choose opt as a place to save the file. I won't be doing that in the future.
I saved the file in another home page folder and the problem did not occur again.
I'll mark this thread as solved.

Re: F2 key not accessing BIOS in Dell Inspiron 6000

Not per chance using an external keyboard at the moment which might not be initialized soon enough? Assuming not, what can work is to remove the HDD for a bit to force the system to allow entry to the BIOS. Restoring defaults might then keep it available even after reconnecting HDD. I am revisiting...

I am unable to watch Australian Broadcasting Commission TV programs in "IView".
I have tried using FireFox and Google Chrome.
Both report the same error: Error Code: 102630
I have searched the ABC site and also Google. No coherent fix found.

Can someone please assist?
