Finally migrated to mint

I've been using ubuntu since 5.04, and I was copying the same system on all my main desktops. so it became a heavy and unstable system in the end. after a good experience with mint mate and cinnamon on ubuntu, I finally found time to migrate all my stuff from my ubuntu to linux mint and I'm official...

did you read the link I posted? Yes and ? read it again until you understand it. First: posted by Thom Holwerda on Wed 22nd Feb 2012 Second: people can just take pepper and make a deb with it, and you will have flash with Chromium... http://www.webupd8.org/2014/01/pepper-flash-player-install...

Re: Media content not available in Linux, but it is in Windo

adobe flash player for linux which is used in firefox and other browsers (except chrome) is unmaintained and discontinued. updates will only be available for chrome's pepper-based flash player. sorry, but that's the policy of adobe. Stop with this. This is not even true... This is a story for nasty...

Re: Media content not available in Linux, but it is in Windo

Hello .. I'm having the same issue that I can watch a live stream smoothly on Google Chrome on Linux-Mint 13 ( Xfce-4.10 desktop) but the same stream does not run on Firefox version 26 on Linux Mint. I have done enough of putting queries in linux mint channels on IRC & posted query in Linux Mint Fo...

Re: Frustration

even if it seems very unstable, debian testing is very much usable if it's updated smartly, and not regularly. I have a very old system running debian jessie with lxde and it's working very fine. my rule of thumb for updating is every two months. even that sometimes breaks some packages, but it's wo...

software in debian stable is waaay older than ubuntu LTS.

nope, but you can use gimp to manipulate the final image, or use xsane to have more control over scanning settings.

I wasn't suggesting ubuntu or debian, I was talking about default linux mint which is based on ubuntu.

Re: Frustration

linux mint debian edition is a rolling update release based on debian testing. therefore it is more prone to break by updates since it often includes cutting edge software. if you want something more stable, try using the normal ubuntu-based edition.

Hello, I travel alot, and in some of the countries I visit skype is blocked. I get over this easily with my android phone as in the play store there are many so-called free VPN programs which I can install hiding my location, thus enabling me to use skype. Re: Only one problem after dist-upgrade...

what do you mean by "dist-upgrading" from 15 to 16? if you mean apt-get dist-upgrade, it does not upgrade your distribution. it's just a smarter way to fetch new packages to install than upgrade. upgrade Used to install the newest versions of all packages currently installed on the system from the s...

Re: cdrom drive ide

The weird thing is that your cdrom is configured as mwdma2 and not udma which it's supposed to be. Go to your bios settings and change it to udma (ultra dma) and see if it fixes the problem.

Is it alright for me to send you a PM with a link to the text files? (just checking first since I don't know how you have your forum account set up) I had another idea first which will be reflected on those text files as well. It dawned on me that perhaps I'm experiencing some type of file remnant ...
