Re: Can't Copy Large Files?!?

Yes, the thumb drives work fine. One I use all the time copying various ISO files and data for work. The second one is brand new that works fine with Windows, Mac and small files on Linux Mint. I also tried a USB hard disk originally and the same thing happened. I thought it might be a problem with ...

Re: Can't Copy Large Files?!?

and for what it's worth, why was I able to copy the file to a network drive via my wifi but not able to copy it to a brand new freshly formatted by Linux Mint empty 256gb thumb drive that I just bought?

Spin it any way you want, that makes no damn sense to me....

Re: Can't Copy Large Files?!?

Um, this is the whole point. I'm trying to move a 70 gb file off my hard disk to a thumbdrive to free up space.

Why is copying a file from my hard disk to a thumb drive causing my hard disk to run out of space?

Mint 18.1 Upgrade Disk Thrashing

I updated my laptop from LM 18 to LM 18.1 this morning.

Everything went smoothly but I notice that the HD is thrashing a lot now.

I plugged in the laptop and I'm going to let LM 18.1 do it's thing, but I'm curious is this normal? What is it actually doing and will this eventually stop?

Re: What Windows software can you not do without?

For me it's corporate VPN Client access. I have no problems connecting to all my clients with Windows, OS X and iOS. But Linux refuses to work with some offices. No connect means no paycheck, so Linux is a no go for me.

Re: Why Linux? Why not Apple?

Honestly, money. I just got a new MacBook and it's incredible. But it's expensive also. I have Linux Mint Cinnamon on my other laptop. Linux Mint is great until you run into a problem then it's hell. My problem is connecting to corporate VPNs. Most work but some of my most important clients don't wo...

Re: Printer driver - what did I just install?

I have 64 bit Mint. The problem is that after I install the drivers with no problems at all I can't find them. Adding the printer still selects the wrong printer model and driver and I can't find these to select them. Basically my question is where did they go? I installed them but can't find them a...

Printer driver - what did I just install?

I am trying to set up a Xerox Workcentre 5955 on my PC. I don't see the right driver to choose so I go to the Xerox website and download and install the Linux driver for the printer. Mint is still selecting the wrong driver and I can't figure out what driver is the one I just downloaded and installe...

Linux RDP Server

I can't find anything on this so it must be a stupid question though I don't know why. I would like to setup a Linux Server that Windows desktops can RDP into to use a browser for internet access. I can do this very easily with a Windows Server and have many people RDP'd into it simultaneously, but ...

Re: [Chat] Still need a Windows? Speak out your reason

Actually I am now linux free :(

Between iTunes, my VPN connections and general linux issues I had to dump linux mint.

Didn't want to but I need my pc's to just work with no hassles. Don't get me wrong I liked mint, it just wasn't there yet. At least for me...

Re: Why does anyone use linux?

Thanks fraxinus for at least conceding that there IS a problem with Linux and corporate vpn's. You can't imagine how annoying it is to get these stock Linux "answers" that the problem does not exist. Nonsense. The problem does exist and there is no solution. And this is the problem with Linux. It ei...

Re: Why does anyone use linux?

L2TP/IPSec works problem free on Linux, both as a server and as a client. However, for your particular server--sure, it might not work with that one specifically. That's always the case in the corporate world... At my employer, for some internal websites only IE works right, for others we're told I...

Re: Why does anyone use linux?

Sure, the built in PPTP VPN works perfect. Unfortunately I also need L2TP IPSEC for some clients. Doesn't work at all. And that sums up Linux in a nutshell. If you only need the things that work in it, and that's WAY LESS than Windows, it's great. But otherwise you are just going to keep running int...
