You could also try adding a second panel and see if @karlchen's
suggestion works in a fresh panel for troubleshooting purposes.

+1 far better to leave the packages alone and just disable flatpak interaction by removing the flathub repository: flatpak remote-delete flathub That's all you need to do if you're not interested in flatpak packages. No repository means no download or update venue and flatpak packages will no longer...

I've had excellent results with Micro Center USB3.0 sticks

Can't you just grab the menu by the handle at the top edge and resize?

When update manager offers an update you can right-click the update
and choose to ignore it once or ignore it forever.
Those files will be listed in Edit/Preferences under the Package tab.
You can add them back if you change your mind in the future.
