Re: Timeshift snapshot taking too long

Ok, thanks again for the guidance. Storing snapshots in a different partition but on the same drive is not recommended, right? To try to better explain my question: why is it recommended to save snapshots on a second drive (whether internal or external)? Or in other words: what are the implications...

Re: Timeshift snapshot taking too long

Best practice--save your snapshots to a partition on a separate drive for safekeeping. Can be either internal or external partitions--just not on the same drive you are backing up. If you aim those files to a common usb flash then expect long write times. usb3 is faster, an internal ssd partition is...

++for SSD recommendations. You can get 120gb for under 20usd.
this along with that extra memory would be a stellar improvement

Re: bluetooth pairing with keyboard not working

I hope you have a usb keyboard to temporarily use. I have been able to work around this issue via terminal. In your case the terminal entry should be: bluetoothctl connect F3:E9:D6:B4:9C:A9 Sometimes you have to remove the device from the blueman applet, and then run a new search for bt devices. Whe...

Re: Linux Mint "Install Mint" App Not Working

I booted into Linux Mint 6 Cinnamon 32-Bit, and when I try to use the install app on the desktop it doesn't open. I double click, and try right clicking and pressing open, but nothing. I tried looking at the command it uses, went to the terminal and typed it, but that didn't work either. I am using...

Re: Re-add program icons to the Cinnamon menu?

I don't know the CLI command to launch them
this is easy. just open a terminal and enter:
which hatari
or perhaps:
which Hatari
Linux is upper/lower case sensitive.
That result should reveal the path to the executable.
Once you have that path you can do with it as you will

It is a tiny device.

Re: Please bring 'Light Night' to Linux Mint

Do you mean Night Light? That's a Gnome feature, not Ubuntu. I'm running Debian 12 Gnome now and it's built into the desktop, and Debian ships with very vanilla desktops. I.e. they don't pimp them a bit like Ubuntu or Mint does. I do agree it should be built in, I use it all the time. My main lapto...

Totally correct. Although I bookmark them so I make sure I can find them again, since sometimes I stumble over them by complete accident.
Heck yes--bookmarks are cheap :)

Re: When did you start to realize Linux will never become the future of desktop computing?

Easy for me: I never wanted Linux to be anything like windows to begin with.
Being like windows is likened to a flea climbing an elephant's rear leg with romantic intentions.
Probably not happening.

Re: About to get in over my head

Gb are cheap. I make and keep a 2nd duplicate .iso install considered as my 'scratch' partition. Everything new and unknown happens here beforehand. How are you creating an ISO of your existing system? It's easy to have multiple os (Mint) on different partitions. Keep one clean--use a second for ex...
