Re: How do I know if I'm ready to permanently switch to Linux Mint?
Even when 'permanently' switching to Mint most keep a win install available.
Eventually and hopefully you will not need to boot the win partition again--but it's no
big deal if you do.

Re: How do I know if I'm ready to permanently switch to Linux Mint?
for newcomers that like to dabble I suggest a double basic install on two side by side partitions. If you butcher one partition you have a fall back They can both be your favorite desktop--or even mixed with one of the others. Keep this partition freshly updated, but no other modifications, nothing ...

Re: Catfish "Show in File Manager" Not Working
Alright, I'll do the whole "new user" thing tomorrow, cause I'm doing my night shift thing now. Is there no other way to check out what's wrong, though? It's just a troubleshooting step to verify (or vilify) your .config files Report your findings Afterwards you can delete the 'new user' ...

Re: Catfish "Show in File Manager" Not Working
Works here as well. Give an example of files/directories that do not offer the context menu 'Show in File Manager' This sounds like config problems. Try creating a temporary new user in Users and Groups. Newly created users get a fresh set of config files--like ootb Then log out, and log back in as ...

Re: Cinnamon Random Desktop Background
Hi, I've just installed Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon, after trying out Linux Mint 21.3 Xfce. I know Cinnamon is supposed to have more "bells and whistles" than Xfce, but I'm now missing an option available from the Xfce version, which is to have a random desktop background rotated every now a...

Re: Timeshift snapshot taking too long
If you have the storage space you can have multiple backup strategies.
Much better to have these and not need as opposed to the opposite scenario.
remember though-no backups should be considered trustworthy before being proven.
