Re: Middle click closes windows

(there's probably a GUI somewhere but I don't remember): apt install dconf-editor Heh, cheers, but I meant a MATE GUI for changing the middle click behaviour. At least it seems like there should be one. Is that your xmas doggy in your avatar? I used to have one like that, minus the hat. :) the dcon...

Re: Troubleshoot trackpad

This may not be a remedy but will provide further information to help with your issue. See if the trackpad is listed in xinput, Open a terminal window and enter or copy/paste: xinput --list If your trackpad is listed there the system recognizes the device. There will be a device id# associated with ...

Re: Booting All OS's From grub 2

If you want a grub screen then make the hd with Mint the default boot device in your bios. Then when booted into Mint run: sudo os-prober That terminal result should show the Win installations. Use the Disks utility to determine the drive designation for Mint (sda?) Then in a terminal: sudo grub-ins...

Re: Problem booting 19.1 beta

Go into bios and make sure that usb is enabled in the boot options and at the top of the boot order.
You enter the bios setup by pressing a certain button at the oem splash screen. This button is often
displayed at the bottom of the splash screen. Sometimes F10, F1, Esc---depends on your computer.

Re: How to delete mint off usb stick

Use the USB stick formatter utility from your Menu
fwiw though--having a Mint .iso available on a usb stick is very handy
for troubleshooting or getting back into a system when you are unable to boot.

Re: Manually Installed App Disappears on Mint 19

This sounds like what happens when you are booted from the usb/dvd .iso in the live desktop mode.
Not what would be expected if installed to the hd.

Re: How Do I Change the Kernel Version Loaded?

Thanks for the info. Yes, there's multiple Linux OS's installed and I don't think the OS I was working with is the dominant one. So basically there's no good way to alter the kernel that boots permanently without switching the grubs back and forth to make them dominant? I actually had this issue a ...

Re: How Do I Change the Kernel Version Loaded?

Is there more than one hd involved here? Boot into the Mint that has the updated kernel and run: sudo grub-install /dev/sdX make sure to substitute the correct drive for sdX You can find the correct drive designation with the Drives utility in the Menu This will become the dominant grub and will boo...

Re: Mint 18.3 same problem

My 18.3 cinnamon 64 does NOT change anything after deactivating the 2 checkboxes in screensaver setting (German: Bildschirmschoner). The time limit is already changed to 2 h. Both energy options are set to never. It is a AMD-PC, NOT a Laptop. No use in accumulator saving. It always runs black after...

Re: How to catch a process?

I have a process that warm all my 8 processors. How do i find what process make the core temperature above threshold? 41.5 c temp is not alarming--just barely over normal body temp. If you truly want to test your cpu capability download handbrake from the repositories. Open handbrake and transcode ...

Re: why are distros never updated?

I would like to refocus on the op topic--sorry I deviated. With a fixed release .iso we all start with the same base files. No questions re which files we started with. Can you imagine someone with Mint 19 Cinnamon.03.14.18 download asking for support? Which packages would you imagine them to have--...

Hi again AZgl1500, I am on a Satellite connection, read that as "metered data"... 35 gB/month How are you getting along with viasat emotionally? wow--only 35gb/mo data--do you get wee hours unlimited? Guess it varies from area to area, I have 150gb/mo allowance plan--but only 12 MB speed. Mostly I g...
