Re: Black screen of seeming deadness

I thought perhaps your you may have received a kernel update unknowingly. Try this: when you see the grub screen press 'e' (edit) Scroll down using the arrow buttons to the line beginning 'linux' then use the right arrow to scroll to the end of 'quiet splash' backspace to remove those two words and...

In the next grub screen use the arrow buttons to highlight the next lower numbered generic kernel and press ...

Say more regarding your Mint edition and desktop choice.
Ctrl+Alt+t to open a terminal and input:

Maya is one of Clement Lefebvre's Crown Jewels

+1
There is a warm spot in my heart for Maya as well.
I was a late to Mint and only experimented starting with Julia,
but with Maya dumping win became a realistic vision.

In the event your system will not boot you can boot up using your install medium to get to a live desktop to resto...

Re: Is the Grub Customizer a no, no? [yes]

Folks: afford some respect for Daniel (the creator, and he is in the room). The tool may no longer be in active development, but He has Not disappeared. = opinion = It was great tool, that I believe worked great. I believe that was because we were working with more simple OSs, no UEFI, and maybe Gr...

Re: Hi, Newbie Here Need Some Guidance Please

Hi LinuxmehatinWindows, Many here share your experience and sentiments. As WharfRat stated anti-virus should be your least concern. Mint is easy 1. Disregard the myths regarding non-win, they are entirely false. 2. Consider the threads in this forum as a learning tool. 3. Enjoy your newly found free...

Re: Administrative Password Not Accepted

Hello,
I had some trouble installing a piece of software yesterday as a download rather than through the Software Manager, but it's running now.

Can you elaborate on this please?
Also try running this in a terminal:
mintupdate
Post back the terminal results.
Also do the same for:
inxi -r
