Re: Why is clock always wrong at boot?

Hi thanks for the replies, but again I do not dual-boot with Windows. My BIOS battery is fine, my Kali persistent USB stick has no problem with clock and my Knoppix Live CD has no problem with the clock. I tried setting the clock from 24hrs to 12hrs, rebooted and still the same problem. My settings ...

Re: Why is clock always wrong at boot?

Hmm... okay thanks for the reply but I just "cat /etc/adjtime" and it is already set to LOCAL under some other lines. Any other ideas?

Why is clock always wrong at boot?

My clock is always 8 hours ahead no matter what. I am running LM17 32 bit with Cinnamon. I have the 24hr clock option set. I have already chosen my proper timezone and UTC=no has already been set. My BIOS is right and none of my Linux Live CD distros seem to have a problem with this. Any ideas? Very...

Re: No more audio in LM 17 Cinnamon (Thinkpad T420)

It seems that I can manually enable the drivers "modprobe -v snd-hda-intel" and that works. Still stuck with the original problem of constant underruns and terrible audio in wine though. I've tried the various fragmentation sizes that have worked for other users too.

Re: No more audio in LM 17 Cinnamon (Thinkpad T420)

Hi, thanks for the suggestions.. tried to purge everything alsa* and pulse*, remove files, reboot, reinstall and reboot again. Still nothing, still only detects "dummy output".

As for the second response, yes I saw that thread too and in my case it did not work.

No more audio in LM 17 Cinnamon (Thinkpad T420)

In the ongoing saga of just trying to have a usable system with wine and working audio through wine, I am now left with no audio on anything! I had made some changes in /etc/pulse/default.pa and created default.pa.bak. When I tried restoring that, I only get a "dummy output" now. "lspci -vv | grep -...

Re: Uninstalled pulseaudio and now a black screen after logi

Why should uninstalling an audio component effectively crash my system?? Why does Linux need several different audio projects who do not talk to each other and do not talk to the Wine people? Do you think I am the only one having issues with Alsa/OSS/Pulseaudio through Wine? And go and see what the ...

Re: Uninstalled pulseaudio and now a black screen after logi

Had to do a "sudo apt-get install cinnamon" reboot and it works again! So I guess the lesson is you are just stuck with pulseaudio, like it or not?

Re: Uninstalled pulseaudio and now a black screen after logi

UPDATE: I have tried to "apt-get pulseaudio" "apt-get update" "apt-get upgrade" .... and still nothing.

So I try to "sudo aptitude -f" ... and it does nothing.

Seriously getting very ###### at this "stable" OS!

Uninstalled pulseaudio and now a black screen after login?!?

I uninstalled pulseaudio because it appears to be screwing up everything that uses wine. Now after I login I just get a cursor on a black screen? Attempts to CTRL+ALT+F2 and "startx" does not work. Trying to "su" and then "startx" just gives the same black screen with cursor. Please help, I need thi...

Network-Manager Icon has disappeared LM17

Hi, My network-manager icon has disappeared from my taskbar, it used to be right by the clock. I can't seem to get it back, "service network-manager stop" and "service network-manager start" does not work. When the my laptop boots network-manager is running and it does get an address via dhcp. Re: Upgraded to LM17 and now my headphone jack isn't working

Had to change alsa.conf back from "lenovo" to "default", reinstall pulseaudio and it works again.
