Re: SWAP space does NOT get released when program close

I also have this problem of swap not being released when closing a program that is using it.

It also may be a bug with the kernal used in jaunty (Mint 7).

Mint 7 + 4GB RAM and the system swaping, kernel problem?

Re: Is Mint planning for Plymouth usplash takeover in 9.10?

Cool, I had not heard that they had changed their mind about this. Actually, I just found this is post #161 here that it won't be. But there is some confusion still... http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1140697&highlight=plymouth&page=17 Either way, I don't care. I have always found th...

Hmmm...I may be mistaken, but it seems like the user "laughingLoki" used "kdesudo" instead of sudo.

Either way, it still looks better.

Haha, sweet! I remember back in college my buddies and I would all set our computers up on a lan in their apartment and play this. I still have the disc...Would I be able to play this vs you guys in a virtualbox setup on Mint?

Is Mint planning for Plymouth usplash takeover in 9.10?

I have been reading on the Ubuntu forums and elsewhere that in 9.10 Karmic they are planning on using Plymouth instead of Usplash for the boot screen. You may or may not know, Plymouth is used in Fedora 10. It apparently uses KMS in the 2.6.29+ kernals and allows for a more advanced loading screen w...

How to change MintUpdate and Synaptic to be like KDE 4

I have always found MintUpdate and Synaptic to not fit in right with the rest of KDE. GTK programs run as user (openoffice, firefox, etc...) get the QT4 theme applied. But since MintUpdate and Synaptic are run as root they are not applied and use the ugly icons, fonts, colors, etc... I found a quick...

Re: Green theme of KDE?

Think of Mint KDE as peppermint. I like the blue. And this is not a tack on. I'm a KDE man and IMO Mint beats out openSUSE and Mandriva, the top two KDE distros. Kubuntu is a joke. I agree...I have tried all of those and Mint KDE tops them all! To those who want a green theme...its not that hard to...

++Since I am new to VB...Should I install the windows NVIDIA driver inside the VB XP guest? I haven't found any answers... No Sir It doesn't work like that. Vbox has it's own set of drivers that you have to use. I'm sure there's all sorts of complicated explanations for why this is. It boils down t...

New package again.(In Gloria's Community Repo) Edited some code to get System for OS info. Here is what it looks like on KDE CE 7 dev 051. Thanks merlwiz79! What do you think about making the blue mint logo at the top a little bit bigger and less transparent (lighter) as well as the text to see it ...

Re: Gloria KDE CE. When?

I tested a new developmental iso today, there is one bug remaining. We will have to wait and see what Clem wants to do. Boo has been trying very hard to get the RC ready. Care to tell us what the one bug was? Is it related to the intel video bugs in Jaunty? If it is only one bug and not that seriou...

Re: Virtual Box 3.0 available

I installed VB3.0 yesterday using the instructions on their site. I then installed XP and everything seems to be working great. Actually, I had XP installed on a partition with Mint 7 on a separate partition and was just dual booting. Since I rarely booted XP, I decided to remove that partition and ...

Otherwise, Gloria rocks, it was a seamless install and works great. Running on older P4 2.4 1.2 gig ram rescued box. Other t...

Re: Request: Mint 7 Gloria CD label and CD pack label

These look great! Unfortunately, I don't have a lightscribe drive.

Would anyone be able to make CD/DVD case covers in each of the versions? I think the Dew theme that Zwopper made for these CD's would make a good backdrop for the CD/DVD case covers.

Thanks

Re: Improved Gloria Grub GFXboot menu(with 4 versions)

If you want to completely get ride of it. Edit the gfxboot.cfg, at the bottom it says welcome=1, just change it to welcome=0 to disable it. Then remake the cpio and copy it back to /boot/gfxmenu. Hmm, I must be missing something but I can't find a gfxboot.cfg anywhere. Do I need to install some kin...
