Re: Podcasting on Mint

Hi wnystarsagem, That's too bad. Does your system show that you have the new version of Butt? Another application you might consider that is in the Synaptic Package Manager (SPM) is Darksnow as a front-end to darkice. Perhaps that would work for you? Of course you can use the other apps like Mixxx, ...

Hi Yougottahave, Welcome to the wonderful world of Linux Mint and its excellent forum! I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well. It would help to know more about your system setup. If you run " inxi -Fxzd " and " lsusb " from the console terminal prompt,...

Hi wf54,

You are very welcome...

Glad your scanner is working for you now. What scanning app did you use? I really like that "gscan2pdf" application.

You are welcome...

I updated my last reply.

Not sure about what? You have not told us what you are trying to do, what application(s) you are trying to run, etc... that would require openGL v3 or higher?

Re: Getting to OpenGL 4.0(+)

Hi pendrifter, Okay. You have a really nice computer that is already using OpenGL v4.5. What software are you trying to use that requires OpenGL greater than v3.0? Re: Appimages and security issues

Hi Mintymandy34, I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well. What I'm really worried about is a potential hack, like hacking a website for a day or two and replacing the original safe downloads with malwares. This theoretically could happen with any softwa...

Re: Are there any limits about how many programs autostart can run?

Hi Valsodar, I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well. +1 for "karlchen" comments, add a startup delay like 60 seconds to give your system time to load everything and connect to your Internet. I have chosen to give different delay times for various autos...

Re: Getting to OpenGL 4.0(+)

Hi pendrifter, It would help to know more about your system setup. If you run " inxi -Fxzd " from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information. "OpenGL" is dependent upon your video card's hardware. Sometimes you can get to...

Re: ConvertAll Unit converter, font size

Hi dlabutte4, I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well. As was just stated, there are various calculators that can also do "unit conversions". FYI: A lot of search engines like Google.com can also do unit conversions in your browser. Hope this helps ... ...

Re: Scanning

Hi Portreve and wf54, Obviously with any computer hardware for your Linux Mint systems, it is best to make sure they have current Linux drivers available. A lot of smart computer hardware manufacturers do provide updated Linux drivers for their hardware, but not all. The problem, I believe anyway, l...

Hi V1T4MiN_ The reply from "Tom739" is similar to what you were trying to do earlier in your post. Those messages you have been getting are due to incompatible updates or trying to install incompatible software packages or both. Sometimes that means you have to remove all of the related packages lik...

Re: Scanning

Hi wf54, I think Linux does really well with most scanners. It does help if there are native Linux drivers for the scanners. +1 for "vuescan" which is a great scanning software application as well. Hi V1T4MiN_ I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well. The fact that "lsusb" shows the scanner is a good sign. Another way to install 32-bit libraries (packages) for 32-bit apps to work on 64-bit computers sudo apt-get install lib32z1 lib32ncurses5 lib32s...
