Re: Record sound only from youtube (sounds like underwater)

Hi vickistan, I just read your post and the good reply. Here are my thoughts. I would highly recommend installing and using "youtube-dl" from the console terminal to download videos or audio from YouTube. There is also a desktop application called youtube-dlg which uses the youtube-dl program. The y...

Hi titus1, Welcome to the wonderful world of Linux Mint and its excellent forum! I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well. From what I just read, this seems to be a common issue with these laptops. It does seem to be running a little hot 60 degrees C (14...

Re: Remove Application - GitHub

Hi cessanfrancisco, I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well. It would help to tell us what the software is and provide us a link to it. If you look in the cloned source code folder, there should be a readme file and possibly an uninstall program. As a l...

Re: Cheese no sound

Hi iand,

I just read your post and the good reply to it.

+1 for using pulse audio volume control.

You might also consider another webcam application like guvcview which I prefer over cheese.

Qasmixer is a great sound control application you might install and try.

Hope this helps...

Hi ikester8, The easiest way to install this is by adding their software repository using the instructions in my reply's quote box which will also keep the application updated. Only if you are using Linux Mint 18.x which is based on ubuntu 16.04 change the part in the first command from 18.04 to 16....

Re: Tracking a router after changing locations

Hi AZgl1500, We had to resort to using our cellphone hotspot to get internet, and my plan is only 2gB/month.. don't take long watching Wx Radar to eat that up. :( Phone providers claiming how good 2gb per month is or even 5gb per month is misleading because you can eat that up in a couple days just ...

Re: USB Wi-Fi Device Realtek RTL8194

Hi Galway, You are welcome from all of us that replied... I updated my last instructions to include a reboot, to restart your computer. If you restarted your computer and it still did not work, then running the last line sudo modprobe rtl8192du might activate it. You should be good to go. Remember t...

Hi Galway, I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well. Re: Tracking a router after changing locations

Hi AZgl1500, I really like the Asus routers. So far, I have not had any negative issues. I just started yesterday trying various networking options with my printer. My Brother MFP printer (J491DW) does not have an Ethernet port, so I cannot connect it to my Asus router using that which is preferred....

It would help to know more about your Laptop system setup. If you run "inxi -Fxzd" and "lsusb" from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information.

Hi mpv, and ikester8, I updated my last reply. I did try the deb file for Ubuntu 18.04 which Linux Mint 19.x is based on from the OpenSuse (OBS) system and it would not install. I did not install the libffmpeg063 packages which it apparently needs. Then, I decided to try adding their software reposi...

Re: Need new cheap all in one printer/scanner

Hi vineyridge, It is not uncommon for printer manufacturers to claim that you should only use their ink. That does not mean there are not alternatives to using their ink from refilling them, re-manufactured, or good 3rd party ink replacements. A quick check looks like their cartridges may be a littl...

Re: Need new cheap all in one printer/scanner

Hi vineyridge, Check Amazon.com, eBay, BestBuy and Office supply stores for specials. I bought a Brother MFC-J491DW new for $50us on Amazon and so far it works well in Linux (mine has no Ethernet port, USB and WiFi). I did have to download and install drivers.
