Re: Gnutella on Linux?

Hi chowchow, Although Linux Wine is fine and can work well with some Ms Windows applications, it does create a system risk and unless you are a gamer, it isn't really necessary as there are Linux applications for almost everything you can think of. From what I've read, gtk-gnutella installed using s...

Re: Gnutella on Linux?

Hi chowchow,

You are welcome.

I would remove any versions of this gtk-gnutella you have installed before installing the snap version to avoid conflicts.

Let us know if you have installed and working.

Re: External DVD Drive Won't Mount

Hi mattig89ch, Welcome to the wonderful world of Linux Mint and its excellent forum! I have two LG USB external drives, an older DVD burner model GP08LU30 and a newer LG Blu-Ray burner model: BP50NB40, 2018. Make sure the USB cable is secure to the back of the DVD drive and to a USB port on the comp...

Hi PolaroidUseroid ,

Welcome to the wonderful world of Linux Mint and its excellent forum.

If you tell us which applications you are still using in MS Windows, then perhaps we can suggest Linux alternatives.

Re: Unable To Open CD/DVD Reader Burner

Hi Cybervici, Your post does seem to be a little confusing. At first, it seems like you cannot open the physical drive's disc bay, then it seems like you are having issues reading the discs or both? As for reading the discs data and or movies discs, make sure you have added your user to the cdrom di...

Re: activate freePDF under WINE

Hi cecilieaux, You are welcome. Libre office Draw is free and works well. WPS office suite is another option. Scribus is also free with 3 versions; I recommend the newer version. If you edit a lot of PDF files for work or personally, the Master PDF Editor is well worth the cost. There is an older fr...

Re: Having trouble installing a program

Hi SteveH_66, I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well. You really should take the little amount of time to upgrade to Linux Mint 19.x or 20.x. You should not need to extract an appimage, just give yourself permission to run it, then run it. AppImages re...

Re: Is there a way to speed up printing?

Hi "Red Squirrel", Well that's good to read that JerryF suggestion is working. I kept thinking it had to be something with the printer's driver or its configuration. And, I have not seen a device uri like your screenshot shows. That's why I suggested adding another printer to see what the system sho...

Re: Printing quality issues in Linux Mint 20 “Ulyana”

Hi jimbzk, I've been thinking about this. Do you have a document that is not personal that we could try by attaching it to a post or reply? Did Linux Mint 19.x print well? I cannot help but think, like others, that it is something with the printer driver settings and perhaps maybe a LibreOffice sett...
