Re: Make Nemo Remember Tabs

HI MrGrimm, FYI: There are many file managers available in addition to Nemo that you can install and use. There is nothing wrong with having more than one file manager installed. The new really nice "Polo" file manager can also remember the last session and restore it. It also has options "workspace...

Re: How to install Open Office from .tar.gz

HI AZgl1500, administrollaattori, etc... Did you read the links I provided? There are very good complete instructions for installing OpenOffice including "desktop integration" which is creating menu and or desktop shortcuts. It is recommended that if you have OpenOffice already installed to remove i...

Re: PLEX Media Manager

Hi MrGrimm, I have read a lot of posts and articles on this, and as soon as you change the mounting of the external drive(s) and their partitions that contain the multimedia files to another mounting point other than the default automount location "media", then they should be accessible to add as li...

Re: PLEX Media Manager

Hi MrGrimm, I had issues with Plex reading folders and files on other drives and partitions until I used the "Disks" application to auto-mount them which also updates the drive "fstab" file (restart the computer before adding the new drive partition locations to Plex). I highly recommend giving your...

Re: Creating files in NTFS drives

Hi VAK, Welcome to the wonderful world of Linux Mint and its excellent forum! It would help to know more about your system setup. If you run " inxi -Fxzd " and " lsusb " from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information. Se...

Re: How to install Open Office from .tar.gz

Hi AZgl1500, I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well. I agree with "xenopeek" on this, LibreOffice is being actively maintained and updated more so than OpenOffice. But, if you want to install OpenOffice, the instructions in the link below should work w...

Re: DVD drive won't read DVDs but will read CDs

Hi Mike123, You are welcome from all of us that replied... That is weird and interesting that other drives worked. It could be that some DVD/CD drives require MS Windows drivers to work, but that is a rare thing. Now I'm wondering if there is a way to copy that DVD to the HDD and be able to play it ...

Hi gm10, ihateusernames, and anyone else, Thanks "gm10" for your reply and information. Re: Ssd mount failure on install

HI arielfisher1983, I do not see anything wrong with the results of the "inxi -Fxzd" console terminal command, so that is a good thing. You have an Intel i5 quad-core CPU with 4gb of system ram, so you should not have a problem installing any Linux Mint edition or version including the newer version...

Re: K3B and Brasero won't burn MP3's to DVD's Mint 19 cinnamon

Hi mhbell, You can use "xfburn" to do burn mp3 audio/music files to a CD. You cannot burn music/audio files to a DVD, but you can copy them to a DVD using the "Data" option of the various DVD/CD applications. To get "K3b" working well in Linux Mint 19.x see post below. cd burner for mint 19 - Linux ...

Re: Video poor using any player

Re: Cant unzip music files from downloads to music

Hi mycoset, I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well. Most if not all Linux Mint editions and versions already come with an archiving (zip, arc, 7z) application installed and file manager right-click options to extract or compress. Because there are many...
