Re: Firefox / Flash pluggin on Linux Mint 8 64bit

You can try going to Adobe's website and downloading the flash plugin for it. Link here: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

Re: Network Printing

Then I'm not sure why it worked then but all I can say is that it did after changing the workgroup name to match the rest. In any case, your tutorial helped clear some things up. ;)

Re: Network Printing

Following these great tutorials, I was still running into a problem getting my wife's Vista laptop to 'see' the networked printer until I remembered something about workgroups. They all need to be part of the same workgroup or it won't work. I reset hers to the main workgroup for the network and bin...

Re: Linux Mint 8 "Helena" released!

Got LM8 installed on my HP dv1000t laptop and so far, it's cruising right along. Much better than Ubuntu 9.10 did initially too. Not sure what the difference is now but whatever it is, keep up the good work. Once I get my files moved over and miscellaneous software reinstalled, I may go ahead and in...

Re: >End Thread< Still Here, see "Moving On"

I totally agree %100 with this. Tried 9.10 on both my desktop and laptop with disastrous results. For example: Wireless/Wired connectivity was not there at first. Then when I finally did get it, it was so slow I felt like I was back on dial-up. Also, the overall system performance was horribly slow ...

I tried this program and it won't use the images from my /home/pictures/wallpaper directory for some reason. Do they have to be in the system's background directory in order to work?

Re: Default Browser

Hi elija,

I have mine set as per the example image here and it works just fine. Maybe it's in the custom string you mentioned as I didn't use one.

Re: New server for the forum

When I first clicked my bookmark, it took a bit before the forum resolved. After that, things began to pick up speed-wise so maybe it was an IP resolution thing at first.

Re: It's not ready to replace Windows yet

Excuse me but calling people dumb and what not for their views is just as retarded as them doing the same towards those of us that do enjoy Linux. It's no wonder this freakin' world can't get along. For me, Linux works just fine but I'll be damned if I try to 'down' someone else because they have a ...

Re: Beta test Windows 7

Downloading and installing vista4experts will eliminate a lot of Vista's garbage and actually make it a lot friendlier to work with. Link is here: http://ntcore.com/vista4experts.php

Re: Why should I use mint over ubuntu?

I've been using Linux now for around 3 or 4 years and this is the nicest distro I've used yet. I've tried many including the latest offering in KDE 4 but still prefer LM6 with the Gnome desktop. Like the others have said previously, when installed....things just work. No post installation of drivers...
