Re: Make persistent usb on linux that will load on windows

Better ...arguably. You can quickly boot the USB stick made with mkusb in the non-persistent mode and simply copy target files from the second USB partition vs deadly slow full-install USB. nota bene : though nothing wrong is with your "Full Install to USB Drive: Four Options" tutorial per se.

Re: Make persistent usb on linux that will load on windows

There's only one partition on the usb. What I want is to boot from this usb into linux so that the opportunity of infection never arises. It is a good solution. You could name your post "How to make persistent Linux USB that will load on another computer". The most popular solution is probably to u...

Re: Make persistent usb on linux that will load on windows

Probably you know that while connecting a multi-partition USB to a Windows computer, only the first primary partition is accessible and all other partitions are ignored. (This changed in Windows 10 build 1703 - user can get access to all partitions on the USB.) In order to prevent the 1st USB partit...

Re: Ubuntu's Sly Snap Transitions - First Observation of Thunderbird 17th September 2020 With Zorin 15.3

Have not made up my mind, whether I should get Thunderbird 68.12 from this PPA. It seems limited to the security update CVE-2020-15664 and CVE-2020-15669. Debian -- Security Information -- DLA-2360-1 thunderbird Of course "Mozilla" Team team is nothing official but the guys and gals that deal with ...

Re: Mint 19.3 boot gets stuck on attached PHY driver after installing Debian Buster

this is precisely what I did ...sorry... Nothing fancy in /etc/network/interfaces and /etc/network/interfaces.d/setup ? You can compare with your Debian files and even substitute with them if there is a significant difference. In my Debian bullseye /etc/network/interfaces.d/setup for eth0 is (and i...

Re: Mint 19.3 boot gets stuck on attached PHY driver after installing Debian Buster

I actually expected that the problem didn't have to do with ipv6 Just to confirm that please try to pass kernel parameters to disable IPv6 at the boot time. Edit /etc/default/grub GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash ipv6.disable=1" GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="ipv6.disable=1" Just add ipv6.disable=1 to...

Re: (Solved) DNS Leaks in Linux MInt 19.3 ..

That last post you made, can you do that on all Linux Mint Distros, what you said about: sudo xed /etc/default/grub Is that specific to all Linux Distros of Mint or is their a lot of different ways of going about things. To expand previous answers a little, grub here is used only as a tool to pass ...

Re: Ventoy: An easy multiboot USB tool

It boots the ISO's directly, and seems to be able to deal with any type of Live or OS installer ISO. Indeed Ventoy is simple, convenient and effective. Anyway at the time several isos are incompatible, one of them is pmagic, so regretfully Yumi is still on. My issue with Yumi: some isos doesn't boo...

Ventoy is such a simple approach. You install it onto your USB stick, and when you access/view the stick, you don't see anything...it appears totally blank.
It seems not the case

Re: DNS Leaks in Linux MInt 19.3 ..

if you are using dnsmasq for your goal you may check

Code: Select all

sudo netstat -lnptu | grep dnsmasq
if netstat is not available install net-tools

sudo apt install net-tools

Also what DNS server you have here: left click the Network applet -> Network Settings -> select your connection > DNS

gparted hangs searching partitions. - To analyze a situation, start gparted from the command line sudo gparted , and look for terminal output, some messages may be helpful. - Check If the command sudo fdisk -l also takes long time to execute. - Analyze hdd-related dmesg output. - Also check your dr...

Re: qBittorent closes when I double-click to open the directory containing the torrent. (Solved it)

It would be nice if you didn’t need an external PPA to add it. At least it is an official project ppa, not some volunteer or enthusiast based. The same version as in this ppa, 4.2.5, is in the Debian Testing repositories. But it is unrealistic to expect Ubuntu or Debian will strive for a change unl...
