Re: Password Manager Security problems

So, I have to go to my email and verify that it was me, and then try to login to Lastpass again. You can disable that option: 1. First, log in to LastPass and access your Vault 2. Then go to https://lastpass.com/?ac=1 and log in with your email and password. 3. Select Account Settings on the left. ...

Re: Should I choose btrfs or ext4 installing to a HDD?

Curious why you posted this link - are you saying that you should defrag BTRFS partitions? I never have - just asking. OP question - 'I'm interested in btrfs but not sure about fragmentation' Reply: 'If it even is the case it's manageable' My answer with a link (and your (unwilling?) elaboration of...

In my view, Debian makes for an excellent server OS, but not that great of a desktop OS.
Please try Bullseye Cinnamon and find more than two significant differences with Linux Mint or LMDE.

Re: Debian 11.0 "Bullseye" release date: August 14

I'm using Bullseye since July 2019, when Buster became stable I didn't change 'testing' in my sources list. It turned out to be a good decision. So, another one on August 14 - go Bookworm or stay on Bullseye. Unlike in Ubuntu domain, the continuity is a possibility and user choice in the Debian world.

Managed to hide EFI and floppies but cannot get auto-USB displaying on plugging in.
Not in my experience. USBs are showing up on my new Mint XFCE 20.2 installation with settings set on the screenshot above. If you hid EFI with fstab auto option it should be OK.

I'm using Cinnamon mainly, but I think it is possible to hide EFI from desktop appending noauto option to this partition in /etc/fstab

AT&T at 4.4.4.4 is still down
4.4.4.4 is only for their customers and located on Level 3. If you are there it's better to use 4.2.2.2, which is up now.

I still didn't know how to word the command properly to let the Linux pc use port 17116 to send files OUT
For port 17116 it will be (change destination IP as required)

Code: Select all

sudo ufw allow out from any to 192.168.1.121 port 17116

"editing /etc/systemd/resolved.conf has no effect"
What is the status of your systemd-resolved.service ?
systemctl status systemd-resolved.service

Before some cardinal changes you can try to return some 'power' to the Network Manger and to disable systemd-resolved

I think i'd like to get to the bottom of why network manager is not paying any attention It wouldn't, because /etc/systemd/resolved.conf makes the rules. Try dig A linuxmint.com and see SERVER: line after modifying /etc/systemd/resolved.conf to something like 1.1.1.1 and restarting. No matter what ...
