Re: Bookmars disappeard from sidebar.

From the Menu bar. click Show all Bookmarks, or do Ctl-Shft-B. If you find them there, you can move them to the group you want. I keep all mine in the Unsorted Bookmarks group and use the Basic Bookmarks addon to hide the other two groups; Bookmarks Toolbar and Bookmarks Menu... not sure why they ha...

Re: 'Stylish' the Firefox addon - why is this installed?

The only reason I use Stylish is to enable 'Sidebar without size restrictions,' to make my sidebar really narrow.

Re: Robolinux Stealth VM

Okay, I surrender. I changed my plan to VirtualBox with Mint running inside it. But it appears that my ancient HP PC can't handle it, even though dual booting is no problem. Someday I'll get modern...

Re: Robolinux Stealth VM

Thanks. I suppose I could flip the idea around and use VB to put Linux inside Windows, which would make more sense, since I'm just using Linux as a toy.

Robolinux Stealth VM http://robolinux.org/lm/ The problem is it takes a lot of time to reboot from Linux to Windows and back again all day long, plus running Windows XP or 7 on it's own i...

LM17 Cinnamon wins...

Coming from Win7, preparing to enter the world of distros was baffling. An earlier Linux Mint was one of the first I tried, and it's been the only one I've returned to, repeatedly. I am not claiming that I've learned anything useful about Linux. Actually, my research, more than anything, has made me...

Re: Dropbox only showing folders but not files???

That happens to me when I first install and login Dropbox, like after installing a distro. It shows the folders first, then it syncs completely and shows the files. So perhaps you're just not connecting?

Re: Linux Mint 17 "Qiana" Cinnamon RC is out!

One extremely trivial point: I've seen this discussed before with no solution, but the included Firefox doesn't remember its position when relaunching. It does for me in Win7. I don't know if this is the fault of LM or FF, just felt like saying it.

Re: Linux Mint 17 "Qiana" Cinnamon RC is out!

Not much changed, which is fine. Firefox 28 comes in the box, ups to 29 after updater is run. Was hoping for a different backup program, had to wander over to Lucky again. Overall... not much for a Linux Cretin like me to get excited about. Still, LM remains the distro I always go back to.

Re: Why so many preinstalled apps?

I'm sure that the Mint people researched what programs that users are likely to want in their system and took the effort to include them. Then you come along and complain that they're even there... sheesh ;). You can always go to Software Manager, view the installed and uninstall them.

Coming from and still preferring W7HP, I expect to disagreed with, but I've tried all the Mint flavors and always return to Cinnamon Petra.

And I appreciate your confirmation of my claim, gold_finger. As for my 64bit quest, it all blew up in my face anyway -- the PC was clearly incapable of enduring such hardship and is going back. Buyer and seller both learn from their mistakes...

Re: Which 64-bit Cinnamon?

Wow, wasn't expecting that. I currently have W7HP 32bit, dual booted to Linux Mint Cinnamon. I expect my order for a W7U 64bit tower to arrive tomorrow. While waiting for it, I've burned a 64bit Cinnamon ISO. Then, as I said, I read "There aren't any official 64 bit builds of Firefox, Thunderbird an...

Which 64-bit software on Mint 64-bit Cinnamon?

Trying to prepare for the arrival of a 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate tower, I'm preparing links to the 64-bit equivalents of stuff I already use. One is that I'll dual boot again, but am perplexed about the correct link... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ MoxillaZine says, "There aren't any official 64 bit builds of Fi...
