Re: Keeping windows active for gaming

Not the answer you want but a couple years ago I spent about $300.00 USD for a new W10 laptop. Solved a lol issues very easily about running W10 and Linux.
The past five years I was given two laptops that run Linux Mint quite well. My dual boot idea.

Re: Can no longer use Linux Mint

A lot to read through. Eyes are not the best. I have only used Linux since 2003. I have used Mint since Mint 6 and always do a fresh install. Never an upgrade so I never look through messages about upgrades. A couple years ago I bought a USB flash drive with Mint 18.0, Cinnamon and Mate, 64 bit from...

Amazon Mint Installs

I am sure this will get responses. I bought a USB flash drive a couple years ago with Mint 18.0, 32 bit and 64 bit Cinnamon and Mate. I use 64 bit. Came with Mint logo on label. I don’t like messing with Command line so this works just fine. I installed Cinnamon and Mint just fine. Both installs saw...

Re: How I feel about windows

I cannot feel anything about Windows. I do have opinions though.
It is ok if you are aware that Gates designed it to be easily hacked.
It also comes bundled with Failure but not as much today as it use to be.
Windows is great fodder for Ranters who need attention.

I started using Mint shortly after Mint 6 came out. Ubuntu forums were brutal at the time and Mint was much better.

I got the same response. No idea.
I have been saving HTML's for some years and never had this happen.

Re: E-mail Bombs Might Become More Common Now

I belong to a number of forums. It does amaze me that once in a while someone post their full email address in the body of the message even though only those signed in can see their address normally. I and others tell them this is a no, no. Some get it. Common sense is not common. Over the years I f...

Re: Which do you prefer: Cinnamon or XFCE?

I have been running Cinnamon for some years but just purchased a USB flash drive with 64 bit, Cinnamon, KDE, XFCE and Mate so I will try XFCE.
My Two Acer 5515 laptops have some years on them and Cinnamon has slowed a little as code bloats.

Re: Linux is secure…right?

I have used a few Linux distros since 2003 and no issues.

If I get bored, I Google Linux security.
Once in a while a clueless user might "think" they found a virus and posting some FUD.

I have done that by ordering from Amazon. I bought one with 18.0, 32 bit. 64 bit, Mate and Cinnamon. It was here in two days.
I only run 64 bit.
Bought one with Ubuntu but did not like distro.

I have been using Linux since 2003. Never had any issues with a virus. I buy at Amazon. ebay and a few other online companies and do my banking also. My bank will question me when out on a trip and using my laptop for online purchase and checking my bank account. I normally send my bank customer ser...

I have been using three different brands of laptops the past maybe eight to ten years. Once in a while I just hit the power button. Never had any issues. But nothing is running. Just sitting at the desktop.
I keep all my files on a one TB external hard drive.

Re: Greetings from Newbie

Welcome. I use Gimp for photographs. For me, Mint does not want to play with my wireless printer/scanner so I use my W10 PC for that and to connect with iPhone and iPad. I am very cautious with the W10 PC. Mint has become a real issue dual booting since maybe Mint 10 or 12. Techies have made it diff...

I use Amazon, a lot. Prime and Smile to help a local non profit a little.
Our cardboard recycling bins are always filled, every two weeks.
