Re: Mint: a great OS, but ...

I'm a lawyer, and I can think of 100 reasons to encrypt the data partition on my laptop. :) I've got sensitive client data that is sometimes on my laptop, when I need to travel. It adds a layer of security for those "property crimes" that may want a poke around the harddrive before they se...

Huh, I can't get any of it to work. Beryl works fine, and compiz runs just as it always has - nothing new. I still can't use the cube function in Compiz. It's like the installation didn't occur and I'm still using the old Compiz. Changes in Compiz-Config have no affect at all. Any suggestions? Sorr...

Sorry for the long wait between posts: Well, the command line does it again. It's so weird, since all grsync does is punch in a command name... But, the command line seems to work like a charm... Now, all I have to do is figure out how to exclude the "Network" directory; and set up a cron....

You got it right... But that doesn't work in Grysnc.... I want to go from the laptop to the Desktop. I've checked and re-checked teh Samba share name, and the folder names. No dice. I was talking about mounting the Samba share because I thought it was another way - but I can't do that either. And al...

rsyncing over Samba... Just can't figure it out...

I feel ridiculous I can't figure this out... I have Bianca running on a desktop pc. I run Samba on it and share part of its harddrive because I'm sharing between a WinXP laptop and another laptop dual-booting Bianca and PC-BSD. (So three computers in total, a desktop and two laptops.) I can "Co...

False alarm guys - it decided to work all of a sudden. I've moved places two times, which means two reboots - and now all of a sudden it works. I even tested it by starting beryl, and then stopping beryl.

I don't know what happened, but now it works anyway!!!

Thank you so much guys!

Screen lock button doesn't work!

I'm running Bianca 2.2, on an IBM laptop T42p with ATI graphics. I don't have fglrx or anything installed (fglrx doesn't work with my Mobility 7500). I have Beryl, Gnome, and KDE installed. I had to reinstall last night, because I screwed something up. I have my home directory on a separate partitio...

Cool, thanks! I couldn't seem to find that one when I did my earlier forum search. Sorry... I hate asking questions that are already answered.

Can I move Grub after installation?

I'm a HUGE fan of Linux Mint, and it's now my default operating system on my laptop. I'm a newbie to Linux, and I love it. I've been using Mint for a while now, and I've got all my programs configured the way I want, I'm using Mint's GRUB bootloader currently (still dual-booting XP). I'd like to ins...
