What was that LiveCd tool?

(and still select /sda instead of /sda1?). and would 1gb be enough for a /boot partition? or 600mb would be enough also, just to save some space? or maybe it will s...

Re: Which partitions to use ?

well, i already managed to create some partitions and install linux on /(root), but i pointed Grub to /sda5, but that didnt work lol.. so should i point it to /sda or /sda1 if windows boot loader is @/sda1? (it's a multi-boot system...) and where does it save the swap file then to check how big is i...

Which partitions to use ?

wow, nice  but when i want to install this stuff for myself too, should the order be like this?: /(root) /tmp /mnt /home /swap ? and do i have to enter "/mnt" then, not "/mnt/data" into the Gparted partition app? (and what size should it be approximately?) and if it is a multi-boot system, th...

Re: [SOLVED] Windows installation / dual boot

does this dual boot even need a separate /boot partition during the manual partitioning in linux at all if you have to install grub on windows (7) partition anyway? https://linuxbsdos.com/2012/04/25/manual-disk-partitioning-guide-for-linux-mint-debian/ plus how did it even end up @sda1... and was th...

Re: autoremoved network-manager and the greeter?

and i guess that the best way to check which display manager is used, is to type into the console: pstree
(and i guess the default for lmde2 actually was MDM, and lightdm was the simple looking Xsession version...)
everything else was solved with a fresh linux reinstall...

Re: How to add more space to Windows partitions?

ok thanks. so i basically removed all linux partitions and then created a new extended partition, leaving some unallocated space before it for the windows partitions. and after installing mint on /, i also chose to install grub on /dev/sda because i read from somewhere that this is the correct place...

Re: How to add more space to Windows partitions?

so basically... the first usable partition(/dev/sda1) has a windows os on it and also has a "/boot" label on it, but the fresh linux install wants to install Grub on /dev/sda, so should i change it to /dev/sda1 or just leave it to the default /dev/sda?

[SOLVED] How to add more space to Windows partitions?

i have similar partitions like on this picture here:
download/file.php?id=38703&mode=view

so how could i add more space to sda2 and sda3 from sda5 and sda6? (with gparted)
(i have swap as sda7, so sda6 would be like the /home partition in my case...)
