Please, can someone tell me how to install Simple-scan? The online directions, in as much as there are any, are quite confusing.

Yes, I did use the driver install tool, exactly as Brother says I should. When I enter the Linux list command it shows that the drivers are installed. Printer works, scanner does not. By the way, that install tool seems to be only for installing the printer driver.
