Re: Xeon + Mint 18.2: zawiesza się (?)

Witam.
Wiesza się tylko LM? Windows funkcjonuje normalnie?
Jak piszesz procesor jest podkręcony - może przetestuj bez podkręcania na początek.

Re: The direction I dream for Linux

As I understand it, the OP has a good point. It is not about changing Linux or making it more like Windows, it's about having more high-end, specialised (or whatever one would call it) software on our platform. And maybe, just maybe some programmers might put their efforts into creating a powerful D...

Re: Privacy being subverted by new laws

What surprises me most is that so many people don't really seem to care. W10/Google/NSA/FB/the government spying on you? 'Oh whatever, I got nothing to hide...anyway don't bother me now, I need to post a photo of my dinner on FB and tweet that i just returned from the bathroom'.

Re: Linux 2017 – The Road to Hell

Oh, it's Dedoimedo. In that case, never mind. My thoughts exactly. The guy really seems bipolar sometimes ;-) He does make good points every now and then, but the way he puts his message across is not conducive to having a reasonable and productive discussion. And sooner rather than later he ends u...

Re: Opinion: What is the biggest single hurdle keeping Linux becoming more "mainstream"?

If i remember correctly Linus Torvalds himself is of the opinion that the biggest obstacle is lack of computers with preinstalled Linux available for purchase. I think that by and large that's true, since most people really don't care what OS they are running (and many probably don't even know what ...

Re: Don't know

I would suggest you install VB from the package manager, it is relatively 'fresh' (5.0.40). In case it has to be the newest version, what you need to download is Ubuntu package from VirtualBox site. Since Linux Mint 18.1 uses Ubuntu 16.04 as its base you need to download the package for Ubuntu 16.04...

Re: Bitwig 8 Track Music Production Software

Indeed this looks interesting. Downloaded the demo and it works very nicely, though it needed some time to switch to alsa instead of the default jack. The program itself is stable, responsive and from what I've seen so far, looks like a full-featured DAW. Mixing, automation, piano roll, lots of effe...

Re: Unable to install Winehq-stable

In Update Manager/Software Sources adding the official Wine PPA gives the following message: 'Cannot add PPA: ''This PPA does not support xenial''. Is this Update Manager/Sofware Sources app doing something wrong or is this an error on wine's PPA part? Never had such problems with installing wine be...

Jeśli nic innego nie pomoże to sugeruję kompletne usunięcie panelu i utworzenie, nowego z ustawieniami 'fabrycznymi'.
Opcje te są dostępne pod prawym przyciskiem myszy.

Re: Some Observations On Linux Audio

So,...how many controlled, properly conducted double blind listening tests were done by the OP? What were the results? Are they statistically significant? Somehow i still miss this info.

Re: Some Observations On Linux Audio

Assuming you have both Windows and Linux audio systems correctly set up and (and this is very important and takes up most of the time) at the same volume: conduct some double blind listening tests. Without doing those the post about apparent sound quality differences between various OS's lacks any s...

Re: Greatest Rock and Roll band EVER!

Apart from the 'usual suspects; i would like to mention Steely Dan. Kind of forgotten and maybe even obscure for most people, but what they created especially in the 70s is pretty much mindblowing. Apart from that the production/mixing/mastering on their albums is still considered unmatched.

Re: Different desktop versions of Mint 18

Half-serious observation (not to flame or anything...): in my, maybe not such a long linux history (around 5 years), I've used various DE's and spoken with fans of those DE's. There is one thing that invariably pops up in those discussions: whatever, absolutely whatever DE one chooses, there will al...

Re: KDE,-- possibly best choice?

To people complaining about icons (flat or otherwise), borders or lack of them: isn't the whole point of installing KDE version of Mint (or any other distro for that matter) the ability to customise it, including the icons? Aren't there non-flat icon sets for Plasma? I've been using KDE for years an...

Re: What Windows software can you not do without?

Not really critical or in any way 'deal-breaking' situation - foobar2000, Windows-only audioplayer. I really liked it a lot, its responsiveness, simple, clear layout and small memory and CPU footprint (with several big playlists open it would consume 20-30 MB of RAM while Clementine or other audiopl...
