Re: Best dock for linux mint 14
Cairo-dock doesn't work in OpenGL mode with Intel HD4000 on Ivy Bridge - there's a bug and doesn't look like they are in much hurry to fix it.

Re: Mint 7 - no sound through headphones jack
I tried upgrading alsa (base, driver, and the rest of it) using repos. Tried installing alsa-1.0.17 (thats the one in Mint6) and alsa-1.0.20 (right now the newest) from source. No change. Installed Mint6 and all works great. It's a defeat, but I need functional system more than nice looking system. ...

Re: Mint 7 - no sound though headphones jack
Thanks for the links. Tried all the solutions, but unfortunately none works for me. However I found some info there to improve my wifi setup. :) Ok, I went through my /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf (on Mint7) and /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base (on Mint6), and compared them. They are 90% the same, but edi...

Re: Mint 7 - no sound though headphones jack
Yes. I get the audio from internal speakers no problem. Its just when I plug in the headphones or external speakers that I get no sound on whatever I plugged in and internal speakers mute (as they should). What I noticed is if I plug the headphones about 80% of the way in I get sound on both headpho...

Mint 7 - no sound through headphones jack
I get no sound through headphones jack on my asus g50 laptop. However the internal speakers mute when i plug the headphones in. Tried different sets of headset, and I made sure they are not faulty. I get this problem on both versions of Mint7 Main and 64bit version, and Mint7 only. The jack works pe...

Re: KDE Display Queston
I have the exact same problem. Tried with mint 6 kde on dvd and on usb stick. I get "low-graphics mode" popup and then black screen. Interestingly kubuntu loads no problem on my computer, and mint 6 kde loads no problem on my dads dell inspiron 6400. It seems it's mint kde having problem w...

Re: Linux Mint 6 KDE RC1 Bug Thread
I put Mint 6 KDE on usb stick to boot from it and see how it works. I got mint splash screen and then error box poped up saying about low-graphics mode, and after that it hangs in black screen. I'm not sure if it's Mints or KDE fault, but I tried the same with Mint main, Mint 64, and Kubuntu, and bu...

DVD burn problem
I am unable to burn any CD/DVD. I insert blank dvd, run k3b, setup the one movie file to be burned and hit burn. I get dialog box with progress bars all at 0% and nothing happens. The drive doesn't spin the plate even once. Only the time elapsed is counted. I tried leaving it for a longer while, but...

That's a pun or actual question?
In case you really can't open the sites you may try checking what domains you have blocked in mintNanny.

wifi off at boot up
Hi Just installed Mint for the first time on my laptop and it turned out I have no internet. Fortunately having access to another computer I found a solution. Turned my wifi on by typing in terminal: sudo su <password here> echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/asus-laptop/wlan It's great that it works, bu...
