Re: Recover files from encrypted data before Linux crashed

your first use of >> sudo ecryptfs-recover-private>> it has
Found [/media/dave/206603df-6f5c-4600-84d4-a3dd6289b828/home/.ecryptfs/dave/.Private].
did you have a different partition/hdd mounted ? I think it is finding your new installed ecrypfts not the old one.

Just remember when you reboot the /tmp/folder will be deleted and require> sudo ecryptfs-recover-private
<< use file manager go to /tmp << right click on open space<< a drop down will open and select open as root<<you should see and able to open /tmp/ecryptfs.wzps13vP

Re: Recover files from encrypted data before Linux crashed

in your file manager you need to get to "/" , you should see on left side 'computer' or 'file system' click on it and then should be able to fine 'tmp' folder. I am on debian and think it uses a different manager. Some one with better instructions should be along soon.

Re: Recover files from encrypted data before Linux crashed

INFO: Success! Private data mounted at [/tmp/ecryptfs.wzps13vP]
that says it is mounted at /tmp/ecryptfs.wzps13vP , did you look ?

Have never used your type of ecryp so not sure.

Re: Install grub2 only.

the m.2 in a pci-e slot
But the drive was not bootable from firmware. Just not visable!
error code : /dev/nvme0n1 does not have any corresponding BIOS drive.
Would say your computer can not boot from a pci-e slot or you have not enabled it in the bios/firmware.

Re: Installation LM 18 Mate + LUKS

You can do it all manually. https://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/2061 https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=252111 --last post. Might get you started. Just how one does it will depend on if you want all but efi in luks or just the system and not efi nor boot. I would not put /bo...

Re: GPT partition on LM

slave is just a backup HD for the master (data clone)
some reason just noticed the above. you are wanting to have a clone of the whole OS or just data ? I my self do not clone the OS , just make a backups of important data.

Re: GPT partition on LM

DO not try to boot the original/copy if both hdds are in the system, I think the hdd's will have partitions with the same UUID. There are many ways and options on best ways to do things. I am going to give some commands that should permit you to boot into the copy of LM before fixing the efi boot op...

Re: GPT partition on LM

boot into a live mint and run in terminal (boot the usb/cd the same way you did for the new install) sudo parted --list post output and tell me what hdd and partitions contain. sudo efibootmgr -v post output, if it just gives an error , say so. I installed LM new on slave drive and it booted. betwee...

Re: Multiboot Linux, Windows XP, and Windows 10

Using the instructions on your link, I determined that both Linux and Windows 10 installed in Legacy/BIOS mode. Win XP is 32bit while LM and Win 10 are 64bit. Likely, that is why Win XP cannot be booted from Linux's Grub = the problem cannot be fixed, unless all the OS are in the same bitness. Grub...

Re: Multiboot Linux, Windows XP, and Windows 10

Its been a long time ago for me and XP. It would be possible that XP's boot.ini file is pointing to the wrong hdd when the others are connected. it should look similar like : [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)parti...

Re: rEFInd + LVM on LUKS Installation

will try to post later, you do not need a /boot as you say EFI partition is good. I used grub-standalone so not sure just what modifications to the help-site will need changed. I combined 2 different how-to's to get all to work , one is in Mint fourm and one in Ubuntu fourm. I used it for both Mint ...
