Re: Backup/Imaging of Linux system partitions
I have qt4-fsarchiver installed on my Multisystem USB stick along with a few other recovery distros. qt4-fsarchiver is a live ubuntu based distro with a gui based version of fs-archiver (along with some other tools like gparted) for saving compressed copies of the data on partitions. It only saves a...

Re: Is Ubuntu changing the boot order for grub?
It was the 1st time I have seen the "mint" entry change to Ubuntu. Its also the 1st time that I have seen a distro change the list order that the "default" distro is to boot into without me specifically installing grub to the MBR or, in this case, the bios-grub partition from a p...

Is Ubuntu changing the boot order for grub? (solved)
I searched this topic today and found a user with a problem where the boot order had changed after an update of Mint which updated grub? Has anyone else seen this happening? I noticed the same so I am wondering if this is a coincidence or not. My default distro is Manjaro and when I installed it, I ...

Re: Logout Sound for mint 14?
is there one in usr>share>sounds called linuxmint-logout.wav? if not , then you can create one. You can even download this , rename it as the above and move it into that folder :D : http://www.megawavs.com/play.aspx?id=11897 ans then as a login you can have http://sounds21.tripod.com/season9/interne...

Re: How to confirm that correct graphic drivers are installe
If you are happy with your graphics, I would just leave it. AMD can drop linux support for radeon cards so even if there is a driver available from AMD , and you install it, AMD may drop support and you will have to revert to the open source driver anyway. Happened to me (Radeon 4390HD) and it was a...

Re: Recovery from older hard drives
I can access other drives or partitions simply by using a live CD. If I get a permission error, I just do sudo nautilus/dolphin/caja, whatever.

Re: OpenOffice
you are giving WAY too little information
Anyway, the best solution... open synaptic and search for openoffice.org, although I dont see why you need it as I assume libre office is pre-installed

Re: Linux MInt 13 Update Manager not working in KDE
In the meantime you can use sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade in the console.
You could also, in synaptics, try uninstall mintupdate , update manager core and whatever other update manager is installed (i have the KDE version also...an then reinstall them via synaptics

Re: Backup and restore whole OS [SOLVED]
as I said here...
this will restore your install exactly as it is now (as long as the new partition size is big enough for your data needs, which I assume you will make it)
