If the switch is broken, you might need to remove the internal wifi card so that the USB wifi will work

Re: My previously working Wifi Connection doesn't appear in list. Others do!

Can you change the channel the Wifi AP is on to channel 1 - 11? I am sure that drivers for most Broadcom wifi only support channels 1-11 on 2.4 GHz

It is the USB wifi adapter in the computer that is the issue, not the router

Re: no wifi on a samsung

Check mokutil --sb-state as Secure Boot needs to be disabled for this to work
Then in terminal do

Code: Select all

sudo apt install dkms git
git clone https://github.com/jeremyb31/ath-5.3.git
sudo dkms add ./ath-5.3
sudo dkms install ath-5.3/1
Reboot

Re: lsusb; dkms status

You do not need the entire path for modinfo unless you want info about a specific kernel version
Post results for

Code: Select all

cat /usr/src/rtl8812-4.3.8.12175.20140902+dfsg/Makefile
I had a space in the first one that created the no such file error

Re: Laptop losing wireless connection to router

See if running this in terminal to disable wifi power management helps

Code: Select all

sudo sed -i 's/wifi.powersave = 3/wifi.powersave = 2/' /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf
systemctl restart network-manager.service

Re: No Wireless Networks (WiFi), can't find the right driver?

The backport-iwlwifi won't work with Secure Boot enabled, check mokutil --sb-state
If it is enabled, it must be disabled in BIOS

Re: How can I force an IP address to my WiFi network

Can you assign an IP to the computer on the router? Otherwise you will likely have to do manual IPv4 settings in Network Manager
