Re: How-to: Dual boot Windows 8 and Mint 14 - both (U)EFI!

I am thinking of buying a windows 8 desktop, probably Dell or HP. I came across this tutorial about how to dual boot Windows 8 and Linux Mint 14 by avoiderrors.net. Has anyone tried it? Does it really work as easily as the tutorial claims? http://www.avoiderrors.net/dualboot-windows-8-with-linux-min...

I have done 4 factory long and tedious resets because Linux messed up the hard drive which I finally re...

Re: Linux Mint Debian 201204 released!

I installed LMDE 201204-mate-cinnamon-32bit-rc.iso on 18 Apr 2012 and have applied updates through the update manager. Is my installation the same as the LMDE 201204-mate-cinnamon-dvd-32bit.iso released 24 Apr 2012? Thanks.

I am enjoying LMDE very much!

Do you just need something to change image formats?
I am trying to mass resize photos. I have installed gThumb and believe this will meet my need. Thanks

What command does one use with LXDE to edit Grub2 /etc/default/grub?

With Gnome I believe it is: sudo gedit /etc/default/grub, then change and save change, the sudo update-grub.

I cannot fine the LXDE equivalent. Any help appreciated.

Re: LMDE & nvidia 96.x.x

LMDE took over 6 hours to install. I then found, after using synaptic to install my video driver nvidia 96, that there was intolerable flicker. I have searched the forums and can not find an answer to the problem with nvidia 96. Reluctantly I must return to LM 10 or Ubuntu 10.04.

I am not sure where to enter Enter. Whether I let DVD go into regular or compatability mode, nothing changes. If I hit Tab and then type continue, the result is the same...cannot get to desktop to install
