Re: [Solved] conky problem with mint 18

If you install the package conky-all you'll find the lua script under /usr/share/doc/conky-all/convert.lua.

Re: Trying to install conky_1.9.0-6_all and get conky 1.10

Install the package conky-all, it creates a folder /usr/share/doc/conky-all, this folder contains a script convert.lua which converts the old .conkyrc into the new synthax. It works pretty well but maybe you'll have to fix a few errors manually. With this script I was able to convert my .conkyrc int...

Re: Conky Showoff thread

Nothing too fancy, I took the config "drphibes" from https://github.com/brndnmtthws/conky/wiki/User-Configs and adapted it to my needs. conky.jpg Edit: Forgot to add the conky.conf, sorry about that: conky.config = { alignment = 'top_right', background = false, border_width = 1, cpu_avg_samples = 2,...

Re: Professional image editing software

There is the one famous image editing software under Linux: Gimp. It's the closest you get to Photoshop and that means really close. Lot's of features and plugins but that also means it's as complicated as Photoshop. By the way, Gimp is also available for Windows and OSX. Oops, xenopeek was quicker ...

Start KeePass for all workspaces [solved]

Hi Quick question, probably long answer  Is there a way to start an application (in my case KeePass) for all workspaces? I know I can do it by right clicking on the windows title bar and selecting "Always on Visible Workspace". But isn't there some launch parameter that can do this automatical...

Re: Linux Mint 18 KDE to use what version of KDE?

A compromise would be to install Fedora 24 KDE. It comes with a newer KDE version than Kubuntu (and thus Mint) but is still far more user friendly than Arch for example. I've been using it for almost a month now and cannot complain. Sure, KDE Plasma has still got a few rough edges but generally it's...

Re: Best Search Engine ?

I know about Sailfish but for the majority of Android phones it's not available, particularly not for my Samsung Galaxy Note N7000. I don't intend to buy a new phone since my current one still works perfectly and that's why I'm stuck with Android.

Re: Windows 10...

I run a Windows / Linux Mint 17.3 dual boot setup. Before the release of Windows 10 it used to be Windows 8.1, then I upgraded to Windows 10. Windows didn't touch Grub2, everything has stayed the same. Except the fact that now when I select the Windows entry it starts Windows 10 instead of Windows 8...

Re: Best Search Engine ?

+1 for duckduckgo. I pretty much ditched all google services. If only there was another broadly accepted, open smartphone os I'd gladly ditch Android and GMail too. Not that other companies like Canonical, MS, Apple... are any better but I hate to see how much control google has over the internet. T...

+1 for Plank. It's very simple but does all I need. And it's very actively developed, there are new updates almost every day.

Re: Replacing Windows 8.1 with Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon

I would click on yes and see what happens. I presume all the necessary partitions (efi partition, system partition, swap partition) have been created during the installation process. Can you tell me what partitions are actually on your disk? Maybe you could post a print screen of gparted showing the...

Re: Replacing Windows 8.1 with Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon

If you don't need the partitions you might already have already created under Windows 7 just delete them and create new ones. You can create as much primary partitions as you want since with GPT theres is no limit for primary partitions. If you still have got data you need on those drives and the pa...

Re: Replacing Windows 8.1 with Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon

Here, that's copied from a post I made in another thread: To install Linux Mint in UEFI mode the simplest way is to hit F12 or what other key brings you into the boot device selection screen during the boot process (if in doubt look it up into your mainboard's manual). There you select the entry whi...

Re: Issues with Windows 8 Duel Boot

You installed Mint in Legacy Mode which is not recommendable if you want to set up a dual boot System with Windows running in UEFI mode. I suggest you reinstall Mint. Make sure you write Grub into the already existing efi partition of Windows (you can choose where to store Grub in the Linux Mint ins...

Re: Replacing Windows 8.1 with Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon

Have you already tried to install Linux MInt 17 in UEFI mode? Honestly I don't understand why anyone would want to install a UEFI capable os like Linux Mint 17 in legacy mode. The UEFI mode and it's GPT partitions are far superior compared to legacy mode (emulated bios). Just make sure secure boot i...
