I installed ElectricSheep (as I usually do) and I can't get it to show up in the list of screen savers. I've tried the other suggestions about editing the .desktop file but nothing works.
Anyone encounter this? Solution?

Re: Poor performance - Mint 14 MATE w/ Dell Latitude D610
I think I answered my own question:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentium_M
It looks like its just a glorified P III. I'm going to see how XFCE works on it. Otherwise, I'll see if I can trade it back for a new one.

Poor performance - Mint 14 MATE w/ Dell Latitude D610
I recently acquired a beater laptop from work, a Dell Latitude D610. 2GB memory and 160GB hard drive. I've been using LinuxMint for several years and love it, and wanted to put it onto the laptop. I tried using Cinnamon, but looks like there is an incompatibility with the PC. No desktop showed up on...

Re: LinuxMint 11, Asus EeePC - Trouble clicking inside windo
I've been using my system without Maximum and it *appears* the problem has gone away. I've been so busy lately I haven't really been paying attention to my computer. I think the only remaining application with a problem is VLC's volume control. I'll try to pay attention tonight & run a few progr...

LinuxMint 11, Asus EeePC - Trouble clicking inside windows
I posted a quick blurb about this in the "RC Announcement" and was waiting until the final version to see if it was corrected. I have an Asus EeePC 1000HEB netbook which was running Mint 10. I upgraded (fresh install) to Mint 11. Now, when I run Firefox, VLC, and (I believe) Thunderbird wh...

Re: Intel DQ965GF won't install any Linux
- I tried CentOS 5.2 and LinuxMint 9 & 10 32 & 64 bit. Same results. Like I said, if you Google Linux and the Intel 965 motherboard there are a lot of people who aren't happy with it. It's funny though, as this is the only Intel mobo I can recall I've ever had a problem installing any Linux ...

Re: Intel DQ965GF won't install any Linux
It's running the latest BIOS that Intel has provided. It's totally bizarre. I've never had this problem with any Intel boards and Linux (any distro) until this one. I've seen it documented all over the net that people have issues with this board, but none of the workarounds I've seen have worked out.

Intel DQ965GF won't install any Linux
I'm trying to get a new lab machine/virtual server on line running LinuxMint 10 64bit RC. I can't get the CD to boot, nor a USB drive to boot. It's as if once the CD tries to boot up it just looses everything. I've tried other Linux distros (32 and 64 bit) and the same thing. They all freeze on init...

Re: How To: Replace LXDE Panel With Gnome Panel
I followed this guide using LinuxMint 9 LXDE, and am amazed by the results. The desktop isn't perfect (no volume control in the panel, some screen savers do not work, etc.) but the performance gain is disturbing. I've got my netbook running this LXDE/Gnome hybrid and I love it. If there was a way to...

Re: How do window managers work together?
Very good to know. Though this is slightly off topic, it's kind of why I asked this question in the first place: Is there a way to use the windows-picker-applet with LXDE? I'd like to replace my netbook install with LXDE and the windows-picker-applet really helps maximize screen real estate. Is ther...

How do window managers work together?
I've been using Linux and LinuxMint for a while now, and have been wondering about all the various window managers out there. If I use Gnome, and I then install a KDE application, the KDE files get installed to make the program run. If I'm using window manager A and I install a program using window ...

Re: Linux Mint 9 "Isadora" RC released!
UPDATE on maximus not working in LinuxMint 9 RC.
It turns out this is a known issue in Ubuntu 10.04:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/552297
I did as the person suggested and manually added a startup entry and maximus works perfectly. My Asus Eee 1000HEB rocks!!

Re: Maximus not functioning right in LinuxMint 9 RC x86
My apologies. I have added my question to that thread. I'm using Mint 9 x86 & amd/64 on two different machines & kicking the tires on them. I plan on posting my findings in both cases. So far; VERY impressed!

Re: LinuxMint 9 64 - Blank screen on CD boot?
Weird. I think I fixed it.
I went into the BIOS and change it from: Native/IDE to Native/AHCI and it appears to boot just fine.

LinuxMint 9 64 - Blank screen on CD boot?
I just downloaded the LinuxMint 9 RC x64 ISO. I've burned the disc and try to boot off of it. I get the "ISOLINUX" text and then the screen just goes black. I am currently running LinuxMint 8 without a problem. The x86 ISO seems to work ok in my virtual machine (though a VM mouse pointer b...

Re: Google Chrome installing Postfix?
Ok. Yeah; I know that typically some kind of mail server gets installed on Linux systems. This was the first time I ever got greeted with a "configuration wizard" for Postfix. I only seem to see it when I install Google Chrome. I've got it configured for Local delivery only, and the firewa...

Google Chrome installing Postfix?
I've been running the 32 bit Chrome .deb on Linux Mint 8 for a while now, and have been liking it. However, I'm noticing that on new Mint installs I do (and on my old systems when they update) that Postfix is getting installed now. Has anyone else seen this happen? It is scaring me that an email ser...
